OT - Marmite by Sharon
A very nice lady I know who lives in N.S. sent me a lovely package today. Marmite!!! Holy crap, it has got to be the most foul tasting, gut wrenching, disgusting thing I ever tasted. I'd rather lick an old boot. No wonder you guys came to America - to get some decent food. Barf I think the...

My Finished Sampler by Lucille[_3_]
I added a picture in my RCTNP album of the little sampler I made for my sister and brother-in-law's 50th Anniversary. It was supposed to be an apple tree, but since they live in Arizona, I figured oranges were more appropriate. Lucille

Vegan - So DMC Instead of Wool by Rachel Grier
Hello Everyone I became vegan a while ago and since one of the practices of veganism is to forego wool I have to give up my beloved Appletons (sob). What I would like to know is how feasible it is to use DMC instead of wool on larger gauge canvas. I know I will need lots more cotton but if I...

Are introductions in order? by [email protected]
I joined the group in October and have been posting since I discovered this great group. I see some of you post daily and others come in when they can. I thought it might be nice for those of us who are newer to the group to get to know the rest of you. I saw another newbie on the threads the...

I'm now at liberty to dish! by Bonnie
I've never met Ginger personally but have shopped there when in Austin. When I lived in Pampa we did not have an LNS. We have a fairly good LNS here in San Angelo so I really don't have to rely on her now. Sorry for your problems with her! -- Bonnie WIPs: EGA's English Band Sampler...

not OT, question for those who are multi-crafters by [email protected]
by multi-crafters, I mean that needlework isn't the only craft you love doing and you are sometimes inundated by everything. I was heavily into cross-stitch for a long time (stamped) when I was younger, then got off the habit and back into sewing (parents both taught me how to sew when I was in...

Attention, Dianne! by Susan Hartman/Dirty Linen
I immediately thought of you when I saw this article in the Hopkins alumni magazine: http://www.jhu.edu/~jhumag/0903web/bigques.html It's about manners and civility, and he states the root casuses of our modern-day lack of civility very succinctly, I think. In fact, I tried to think if there were...

announcing ebay listings? Wooden Hoops by Caryn
One thing leads to another - I am thinking back to all the you know what surrounding angels - all quasi "acceptable" but bloody boring to many. Once advertising is in it quickly takes over. I am with you on this one! I did run an awl through my hand but didn't hit anything major so...

OT, from Gillian by [email protected]
Just to let you know the puns roll on!! Gillian, now in Vermont! Mr. Schwartz owned a furniture store specializing in ornate antiques in the baroque style. He had walking pneumonia last month and was in one of the baroque style chairs rubbing Vicks VapoRub on his aching chest when he...

It's time for everyone to have a time-out... Let's share the latest project you've seen that's calling out to you. For me, I just discovered a small photo of Martina Weber's "Christmas Mystery II" and fell in love/fibre lust. It's on this page...(You have to scroll way down, and I couldn't find...

Organization and Storage by anne
I'm one of those people who embody the 'out of sight, out of mind' adage/cliche. IOW, if something isn't visible, I don't remember I've got it. How do you store your patterns, kits, charts, magazines, books? Are they organized by technique or subject or ... ? What about your fabric? By color,...

:) by Karen C - California
All the presents which are done, are wrapped. Some boxes are already shipped. Two other boxes are waiting only for the baked goodies (which I will be making over the weekend). So, I'm in a pretty good position for having the flurry of same-day turnaround trial transcripts between now and...

I Voted by Donna
And it's not off-topic 'cause if I go to the Scarlet Thread while wearing my I Voted sticker I get a discount on stashing. So I'm off for a quick run to my now favorite stitching store. DH just called and along the way I'm instructed to see if I can find where a new co-worker is moving in today. I...

Mountmellick embroidery by roguepagan
I have been teaching myself this type of embroider for nearly 3 years now and I absolutely, positively love it. I love the white on white and the durability of it. I hope this group gets going well and we can start a lively discussion of this type of embroidery and exchange methods and ideas. . ....
