Advice needed on waterproofing by Bhangra Muffin
Hi I recently bought a large terracotta pot, glazed on the outside but not the inside, to use as a water feature. It looks great but sadly it is "sweating" water through the glaze. It is not losing a large amount of water but I'd like it to stop. What is the best way to achieve this, keeping in...

Aftermarket foot pedal speed control, source? by Recoil Rob
I recently bought am old throwing wheel at a tag sale. It has a 120V, 1/3hp, two speed motor which is controled by a 3 position switch, low-off-high. Does anyone know of a source for a variable spedd foot pedal that I can adapt to this wheel? Thanks, Rob

agate stones in pottery by Marmaj40
Hello all and thanks to all who responded to my agate stone question. I put 4 small "pebbles" into a bowl, bisqued it to ^04, and to my surprise----when I unloaded the kiln there in the bottom of the bowl were the pebbles just like I put them in. Nothing happened. I'm sure by firing them higher...

Air Bubble by Lindsay MacArthur
I threw a bowl yesterday and last night realized that there was an air bubble on the outside. I popped it but now that area is thin. If it fires okay would that spot be a weak point in piece? LMac

Air Bubbles by Lindsay MacArthur
Can air bubbles develop after firing? I have a couple pieces that I would swear didn't have air bubbles when I pulled them out of the glost firing but now have air bubbles. Will the air bubbles affect the strength of the piece? LMac

Airbrush glaze by Diego
I believe I've seen some pottery done with an airbrush and thought the result was spectacular. Can any of you give me an idea of what brand/model of airbrush would be most compatible with pottery glazes? Also, what size compressor would you recommend? I've seen a couple of brands in the arts...

Airbrushing glaze by Tass
I am actually a ceramicist but decided to post here because this questions would apply to pottery as well as ceramics. I have always be told "not to airbrush" glazes as it is a dangerous process due to the frit and chemicals in the glazes. Is this indeed an unhealthy practice and could it be...

All dried up... by Stelios Zacharias
Dear all, It is the height of summer here in Athens. I am the newbie who posted a few days ago with firing questions. I have my clay in big plastic bins, but it has (after about a month) got too dry to manipulate easily. Is there a short cut to getting the clay useable again, or should I get it...

Allach Porcelain displays odd socialist symbolism or markings..... by Tinny Ray
Allach Porcelain uses a logo that exposes the swastika as crossed "S" letters symbolizing "Socialism" under the monstrous National Socialist German Workers' Party. http://rexcurry.net/allach-porcelain-munich-germany-swastika-mark.html It provides additional confirmation of the amazing discoveries...

Alligator glazes by Tim Gaul
Has anyone used the Alligator Glazes by Amaco? It's confusing to look in their catalog--the blues look brown (?) and generally it's hard to tell exactly what you might get if you order. I'm looking for a good two-tone-y or variegated blue and a green. If any one can answer--thank you very much. ...

Ancient Cromartie Test Kiln by Roz Lacey
(Potter in UK) Someone kindly gave me a small but very old Cromartie test kiln. They thought I could use it as a test kiln and for enamel and onglaze work. It looks in good condition and switching it on produces enormous heat, so I guess the elements are OK. The problem is I can't open it. ...

And speaking of bisque and green glaze firing by DKat
I have some pieces that were meant for a pit fire. They have been burnished so if I fire them with my regular bisque (which I generally fire to cone 06) then they are going to lose their shine. What do you all think of bisque firing everything at the lower cone 010 (or even try pushing it to...
