Query regarding glass surfaces? by
Gas Bag
I’ve got a query relating to glass surfaces. I’ve noticed that
glaziers can fit special non-reflective glass to picture frames. I’ve
felt the surface of this special type of glass, and it is very very
slightly rough. It is perfectly clear and the picture can be seen
perfectly, but there is no...

Iridescent glass by
No Body[_2_]
Does anyone know how the iridescent coating on stained glass is
made, and what the stuff is made of? I'm wondering how to remove
select areas on a piece.

Enamel & Glass In Same Kiln? by
Dana Crawford
Can I use the same kiln for both enameling and fusing glass? I read
something that said you can't do this, but no reason why was given.
Does it have to do with using leaded enamels?
Also, is it necessary to have an exhaust hood over the kiln that vents
outdoors, or is this not necessary if I don't...

Anybody know if there are any brush-on, rinse-off acid washes for

Greenish aged type? Where to get? Personal observations of use?

Q: Best Glue by
Matthew Lybanon
I am making some 3-dimensional glass objects, made of stacks of stained
glass triangles. I have tried several types of glue, but after it dries
I can easily pull the triangles apart. I would like to use a glue that
is colorless and will keep these triangles stacked. Has anybody done...

Failed copper patina on stained glass by
Adrian
Hi all
I'm having dificulty with getting a decent copper patina on
the solder joints on Tiffany-style stained glass items.
After soldering, I give the soldered seams a good clean with
detergent supplied by my friendly local stained glass shop.
Then I dry the item, and apply copper patina...

need advise: high alkali crucible melt by
Permafacture
I am planning to make sodium/potassium silicate through the furnace
route in a crucible furnace. I am unfamilar with precautions
necessary for very high flux mixtures as opposed to regular soda
glass.
Will alkali "fumes" hurt my kiln. Will molten alkali destroy a
regular glass crucible? I have...
