3-D Wood Carving Machine by
A.T.
You can be a skilled wood carver in just 20 minutes, glide the copy
tip over the original item and the copy arm makes an identical replica
of carvings, decoys, statuettes, plaques, moldings, etc. Making fine
wood carvings is so simple anyone can do it. The perfection of your
first carving will...

Need good source for carving gloves by
Bill Houdek
Think you are asking too much. I get a number of mine from Woodcraft at
about that price. I see them at shows and most are in that area--get some
there as well. Have several catalogues and they charge that as well plus
shipping. Have bought some lesser priced cutting tools and not at all happy
with...

manta ray pattern by
Gordon
Could someone direct me to a source for a manta ray pattern?
I am not sure that I have ever seen a pattern in my carving books or
magazines.
Thanks,
Gordon

Princebilly1
Ok i`m gonna start a wee thread if anyone is interested.
I wondered what is your favourite carving wood and favourite chisel or tools.
You can explain why if you like.
I am in Yorkshire and prefer English Walnut, the older the better. I recently

My Latest Doodle by

I just finished a crib board for my son's buddy .... he whined long enough
that his grandfather had taught him to play crib and he "longed" for a board
.... and he also admired my "celtic" knots" so I combined the two. there's a
spot made on the side to hold the pegs out of site. It's got a...

Which Tool? by
BUB 209
I do wood repair for a car restorer and every now and then a tricky
assignment pops up - what it is, some of the old cars from the '30s
have cloth tops over a wood frame. Where the top meets the body
in the back the upholsterer needs a groove to tuck the cloth into, and
I tried using a tiny saw...

Issue: Cultural Appropriation by
Chris Warren
Hi Marc
My father is a well respected carver specializing in Kwag-Ulth Masks. He is
part Metis (mostly white) and has absolutely no Kwag-Ulth heritage.
However, he studied under Native carvers, and gained their respect. On the
flip side, I have heard stories of native carvers starting out who,...

Basswood carving by
bubba
Tupelo doesn't fuzz up as bad as basswood. Most places that sell basswood
also sell tupelo.

Sharpening question by
patrick
What is the best way to maintain a keen edge on carving tools such as the
gouges, etc.? Back when I was a chef, I never let my knifes get dull.
Everyday I would fine tune them with a few strokes on a hard stone so they
were like a hot knife through warm butter.
Carving chisels are a different...

stands 9 inches tall, by 14 inches long. Finish is beeswax. Questions,
