This morning in the St. Paul Pioneer Press in a column called Everyday Cheapskate..... Apparently some time ago someone wrote in and asked what they could do with fabric scraps and a small organization in Texas that makes quilts for shelters, churches and other charities said they would take them....

Sears custom made comforters by Joanna
They will make a custom order, COMFORTERS! Note they don't even call them quilts. There is so much wrong with the way they do things I don't know where to begin. I put in for the economy fabric, first quilty design they had to make a king size comforter. Well the estimated price was $536.99. Can...

Sears comforters....correction by Joanna
This isn't Sears, per say. They have hooked up with a company that does this as well as sell fabric by the yard. When you are at Sears.ca click on For the home. Then it takes you to this site http://www.einteriordecor.com/(zetzmx45pk5lnuz2vja43555)/index.aspx But it still says Sears HomeCentral at...

OT - Trip by Sherry Starr
DH and I are headed off to Florida tomorrow to visit DD, DSIL, and the 2 little darlings. I'm sure they wouldn't like the word "little" since they are 7 & 5 now. My stash will be unguarded, but if you have a raid, you must complete one of the applique blocks that I am leaving out. The...

Larissa by Joanna
Sorry I just had one more thought to add. Your dr diagnosed your daughter based on what? Solely her weight gain. Did he do any tests to rule anything else out. Someone else on the group suggested it could be a physical thing. I would want to make sure some things were ruled out. Ultrasound and...

I make an eagle for Popser by Joan
I did read the warning. I did. But it was a great looking wall hanging, and Popser said we needed to have one just like it...but he just has to write about it. I'm the one still slumped over the sewing machine. Joan Story # 248: "Braveheart" (and the wall hanging) http://popser.com

Seems I never stay long, even though I check in from time to time. I never seem to get a stretch open for me to accomplish anything, but enjoy reading what others of you have done and seeing your pics. Thanks.

clear thread problems by Monique Parreira
I too have problems whenever I use the clear poly thread. Sometimes it helps to decrease the tension so that it doesn't pull as much. Or put it on a bobbin and use that as your main spool. Good luck. ~quiltkitty

Planning New Orleans trip...HELP PLEASE! by GwenO MS
We are seriously considering a trip to New Orleans over Christmas vacation in our RV -- which means I take the SM with me (hooray!). I'd welcome any information about places to visit (we last visited New Orleans about 35 years ago!), special quilt shops, and if anyone knows great RV parks, that...

fabric bowls by Monique Parreira
Are you making fabric bowls? They're fun and great use for one's stash. However, the Timtex stabilizer is expensive....so you should use up the leftovers and not throw them away. Sometimes you're left with smaller squares or rectangles of the Timtex but perhaps you don't want to make small bowls. ...

Need Help. Hole in Vintage Quilt by ginmaru
I need help trying to repair a hole in a quilt. It is a worn cotton quilt that I think is from the 30's and it has a hole chewed in the middle of it by an adopted dog. It is a simple applique block sashed with a faded Sandra Dee pink solid. The background was white muslin with a 30's print...
