Spinning T-shirts by
AlenasMom
I'm thinking of making a T-shirt design for people who spin...
Picture of a spinning wheel with a ball of yarn spelling the words "Spin me
another Yarn..."
What do you think?

Business rant. (Slightly on topic too!) by
AlenasMom
I own a clothing store. (Online only right now, but that's not important!)
After a lot of trials and tribulations, I finally got it working and online
and able to accept orders!
We got one order and it included two pairs of hand knitted socks. Which is
great! My partner is the one who does the...

Yay for blankets by
AlenasMom
I'm glad that I can still crochet while I'm sick. (I have bronchitis
again...)
I'm working on a really simple blanket.
It's in a burnt umber color of really old yarn. I'm doing this pattern
dc, ch 1 skip on ch, repeat.
I'm not sure if I'll add a ruffle or not...

Finished Objects by
Alison
Yesterday was a gala day, I finished the socks I'm making for a friend
(for her brother, for Christmas.) He has size 12 feet and I thought
those feet would NEVER end! I was able to get a good length on the
leg also, I did it all in k2 p2 rib so it would stay up (I hope.)
They're in NY Mets...

Victorian Lace Today by
Alison
I just got this large book last weekend (I had a gift card for Barnes
& Noble) and have found an awful lot of shawls/scarves I want to make
from it. It wasn't indexed (or I didn't find the kind I wanted) so I
made an index with the projects, along with yarn types and
requirements, and difficulty...

Catskill Merino Yarn by
Alison
I was in Manhattan yesterday and stopped by the Greenmarket. There
was a vendor there selling Catskill Merino Yarn, dyed with natural
dyes. I bought 2 skeins of indigo-dyed yarn and am thinking I'll make
mittens out of them. It's pretty much worsted weight and a lovely
soft blue.

Cabling without Cable Needle (C4B) by
Alison
Hi - I've looked up a lot of instructions on cabling without a cable
needle, and all the ones I've found deal with a front cable (C4F).
I'm making a sweater that has 2 stitches held to the BACK on a cable
needle, and I haven't figured out how to do this without a needle.
Can anyone...

Class Today by
Alison
I took a free class today at a library branch with a great knitter.
We learned how to make Elizabeth Zimmerman's Baby Surprise Jacket.
It's very cool - you just knit, using double decreases and "make ones"
and when it's finished, you fold and suddenly it's a little sweater.
Of course I got about 10...

Socks Class by
Alison
I've been in a group of cross stitchers for years, but some of us are
migrating away to knitting. I'm going to teach a sock class to two
friends, both of whom have seen me knit socks and gotten hooked (ha
ha). I'm looking forward to it in a couple of weeks!

Top too short - ideas? by
Alison
I used the long weekend to finish a cotton top (knit in Knit 1 Crochet
2 Cotonade yarn.) i've been working on this for YEARS. I picked up
the neck stitches, joined shoulders, picked up sleeve edgings, and
only have the side seams to sew. It's too short. I measured it and
it is right for the...

I'd like to knit or crochet a kangaroo for my daughter but have been
unable to find any patterns here in the UK. Ideally the kangaroo would
be about 1 foot (30 centimetres) high.
Does anyone know of anywhere on the web I can either download a pattern
or purchase a pattern of a...

Stretchy Bind-Offs by
Alison
I'm knitting toe-up socks and looking for stretchy bind-offs for the
cuff. I've tried the sewn bind-off aka Elizabeth Zimmerman's
bind-off. It is stretchy but it seems to make the tops flare out.
I've tried the suspended bind-off but it doesn't seem to be all that
stretchy.
Any other...
