Source? by
Byron Wells
Hey all..
Looking for a wholesale source or sources for these fully beveled panels the
door companies use. I need to match a customers original door at their old
house.
I already do business with Hollander and Houston and neither carries what I
need...
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,
I have some lead came with the brass strip in the heart that I need to cut.
I don't think a regular lead knife will do the job. Does anyone have
experience with this?
Thanks,
Connie

Question about stacking (plating) SG by
C Ryman
Hi all,
I'm working on a panel with some over lapping ovals.
The plating directions I have seen call for the top and bottom pieces to be
the same size to make a full cell. For PART of the oval could I just put a
strip of foil down across the glass and solder the top (or bottom) section
to it? The...

What is this thing? by
C Ryman
I saw this on EBay, the seller doesn't know what it is and neither do I.
Sort of looks like a thing I saw ? Murphy's bucket? glory hole ? that was
gas heated but this has an electric cord (or part of it).

How did they do this in production? by
C Ryman
I was looking at my sisters ring holders which are at least 30 years old (I
think). They are probably from China or something. I was wondering how
they would do this work in production and not thermal shock it.
It seems like they tack the ends of thick pink stringer to a white base, put
on...

What to do with a glass head by
C Ryman
I have a hollow glass head from Pier 1. I was originally going to mosaic it
and turn it into a table lamp. But I have been thinking (belatedly) that
there is no air holes for the heat to escape. I thought about drilling
holes in the top of the head but that is where the glass is thickest...

lamp shade fringe question by
C Ryman
Hi,
Here's a question for the lamp makers out there. Exactly where is the
beaded fringe suppose to be glued to the lamp shade. The fabric edge looks
a bit large (checked out the fabric store today) for just the solder on the
edge. Do people glue it to the glass? Seem like that would cause a...

some help for my soldering tip? by
C Ryman
The round part of my tip is rusting pretty badly and leaving bits of gunky
rust in the solder. Is there a good way to take the rust off and not damage
the tin coating?

Blackening Lead Came by
Cactus Bob
I have never quite figured out how to get that rich black color on lead
came. As the final step I have tried using a bristle brush, car buffing
wheel, etc. I never got that jet black look. Maybe I used the wrong kind
of brush or wimped out too soon; I don't know. Any suggestions,...

Is this the right group for enamelling, cloisonne and ginbari discussion? by
Cactus Jammies
A novice, looking at buying a kiln, and was originally wondering if I
can use a form of this enamelling as abalone shell replacement (not
substitute) for musical instrument decoration. But now having read
Karen Cohen's book, I see what a wonderful process enameling can be.
Is this the right group...
