New LQS - Pacific Northwesterners! by
Patti S
So exciting! I'm sure most of you are familiar with the Southcenter
area in Tukwila? There's a new Quilting / Sewing Outlet store there -
and it's just awesome! The owner purchases last years lines, and then
sells them at greatly reduced prices. I bought 3 yards of fabric for
$11 because I took...

OT foot update by
Gen
Well, my foot surgery is a week old today. I had a huge pressure bandage on
for a week that was very heavy. It came off today and I got a good look at
the work he did ---not good quilting stitches by a long shot, but good for
intended purpose. Wow, is my foot cut up, including a screw in my...

The Art of Quilting by
Patti S
I've been watching a show this morning, a fund raiser for my local PBS
station, called "The Art of Quilting". If you get the opportunity to see
it, please, please do!! It has some of the most amazing quilts I've ever
seen, and some really fascinating techniques. Nothing very traditional -
but some...

I dyed yesterday by
Julia in MN
Shelley Stokes from Cedar Canyon Textiles is speaking at our guild
today. Yesterday she did a workshop on "Beginning Hand-dyed Fabric". It
was interesting to see how things came out. I came home with 26 fat
quarters of hand-dyed fabric -- 12 FQs of a color wheel progression, 6
FQs of a...

Plan for the baby quilt by
Debra
I have searched through my fabric and found some nice bright kid
prints, but the prints are too big for nice applique. I looked
through a block book and found a simple pieced one called Fun Patch
that will work out nicely. I am making one giant block so the pieces
will be big enough to show off...

I'm back even if only for a couple of posts. My puter has been on the fritz

could. I hope everyone is doing ok and getting lots of quilting done.
Everyone in our house is sick at the moment so I've not been able to get...

Anyone know where I can learn to use my embrodiery machine? by
No Name
I bought a Janome embroidery machine from a quilt shop in Florida. The shop
is too far away to get lessons and the machine just sits here looking at me.
I'm scared to death of it. Anyone know where I can get lessons in South
Florida near Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood area? I don't mind paying for...

anything :-(.
So I went back tonight, I needed threads and aida for a cross stitch round
robin and some fabrics for a scrap quilt that I don't...

OT Candle Bleachers by
NightMist
No not for taking the color out of, for sitting on.
In my other life as a religious person, I burn a lot of candles. In
fact everybody in the house burns a lot of candles. Everything from
wee votives, to utility types, to the tall seven day kind in the glass
jars.
We need more room and...

amazing what six quilters can finish in a day by
Susan Laity Price
One of the members of my quilting bee died almost a year ago. Her
daughter gave us all of her mother's fabrics. Among the fabric were
several unfinished projects. Our plan was to finish these projects and
give them back to the family but we just never got around to it.
Yesterday we had an all day...

Another question by
Boca Jan
I have been looking for something I thought was a pounce or pouncy. It was a
soft container for marking chalk that y9ou could pounce over the top of a
plastic quilting template and the chalk would come through the container and
make your pattern in chalk on your fabric.
HELP! What are these...

OT- could use help from the techies by
L[_2_]
Over the weekend, news.optonline.net and/or outlook express went
wonky.
I can no longer reply or post to newsgroups. A 45 minute online tech
from cablevision could not solve the problem. Interestingly, the test
post I sent today DOES appear in google groups, but does not appear in
OE. The replies...

OT - Update on DGD by
TerriLee in WA \(state\)
Thank you so much for all your prayers, good thoughts, and well-wishes. So
far, DGD is showing no symptoms of having contracted the menengitis that her
DH has. This is good news. A few more days, and we should be out of the
worry-zone. Thanks again, everyone.
