La di da Limey
Hi,
I have made a skirt out of crinkle cotton, and since washing it, the fabric
has gone flat. Is there any way of re-crinkling it?
Many thanks

Dying wool (still on the sheepskin) ? by
Andy Dingley
I've just bought (Ikea) a sheepskin cushion cover. White sheepskin one
side, unbleached cotton the other. Not bad quality and very cheap (£10),
although the zip is on the flimsy side.
I was wondering about the likelihood of dying this. Any advice on dying
wool like this, still on the skin? ...

OT I am alive... by

As Wardrobe Mistress Kate knows, I'm still alive and
kicking, but for some reason one of the servers
delivering our newsgroup service has dropped this group
from it's list so I'm no longer receiving posts.
I've attempted to sign up through Google groups to read
this group (and one other) if it...

Good starter sewing machine? by
Karsten's Rage
My wife has a Brother VX-808 which I know nothing about. I spend more
than 50% of the time futzing with the machine rather than sewing. I am
sewing materials like SilNylon, Grosgrain webbing and velcro (i.e. very
thin to thick to very thick).
I want to learn to sew outdoor clothing and sports...

Spotlight Curtains Ready Made, Worst Ready Made Curtains in the World by
Bad Spotlight
If you live in Australia stay well clear of Spotlights Victorian
branches especially the Bayswater Branch of Spotlight, but it could
effect many more stores in Victoria.
You cannot really begin to appreciate what a hopeless experience it
is to buy ready made curtains from Spotlight.
From the...

Any reliable sewing machine recommendations? by
daf
I am looking to buy a basic sewing machine that will last for a long
long time, more than 20 years. I don't do quilting, no embroidery,
don't sew much, don't need fancy features. Just need a reliable
machine to do some clothes mending, curtains, cushions, etc. The must
have features (other than...

Thimbals by
[email protected]
When I ordered a thimbal from Atlanta Thread, I was asked
"with open or closed end". Not knowing what on earth one
would want with an open ended thimbal, I was told that they
are the choice of tailors.
I bought one of each and am still clueless.

Worn crotch in jeans by

Hello,
My jeans always wear out along the edge of the seam from where the four
seams meet and around to the backside. Another pair have done it
today!!
What can I do? I sew on patches, but the strain on the material appears
elsewhere on the edge of the patch and more holes appear.
Can I fix...

recent change in T-Shirt style by
bachelor
I hope someone here can help me. I don't know squat about textiles,
but I've noticed in the last few years the major t-shirt manufacturers
have started making the shirt lengths a few inches longer (so they fall
below the waist). I talked to a Hanes rep who described this as their
"roomier fit"...

What is Understitching by
Kitty
Understitching is a method of keeping bottom fabric from showing at the
fold. You open out the garment after the seam is stitched. Then fold
the seam allowance to the inside piece of fabric and stitch it to the
inside (or underside) fabric as close to the seam as possible without
stitching on the...
