*CHARM SWAP* by
Siptah
1) Charms will be swapped in sets. You may send as many sets each month as
you wish, you will get back the same number of sets. A set will be defined
as 3 charms of different fabrics, consisting of a "light," a "dark," and a
"medium" value of the color of the month. Values may be relative...

Almost "done" by
KJ
I have the borders on "the quilt that ate the basement floor". I can't say
I was meticulous in measuring for borders, but it will work ok as a bed
blanket. It didn't fold completely corner to corner square when folding it
up, so I guess it's a little wonky. I think I'll appliqué some stars in...

OT - Back home in Dundee, Scotland by
Johanna Gibson
Hello group!
I've been back in Dundee for about 24 hours now, and just finished
deleting all the spam in my inbox, opening all my post, and yesterday
went out to get some fresh vegetables and fruit, and bring my cat
Sasha home from "Auntie Dawn's house". I think she purred all night
long. She...

A Featherweight comes to stay with me! by
SusanTorrens
I had remembered seeing a small sewing machine when visiting DH's grandmother
36+years ago. Asked around, and found out that it was given to my niece.
After asking about it a couple of times, my DSIL helped her find it in her pile
of boxes in the basement.
It is a lovely little machine, in a case...

Free motion quilting question by
frood
I have a Viking Rose as my main sewing machine; I've owned it for 4 or 5
years now, I guess. It does straight-line quilting with a walking foot just
fine, but I've never been able to adjust the tension where I'm happy with
the free-motion quilting. On every stitch, I can see the top thread from...

Fancy bag by
MoragP
I just returned from a Red Hat convention this week and spotted one of the
cutest bags I ever saw. I was admiring it but couldn't figure out what the
fabric was. When I got up close and handled it, I realized it was strips of
seat belting in bright red. Someone had woven them together to make...

Joanne's New Store in Tacoma, Wa by
Lenore Lawrence
Holey Moley!
Just got back--had to get that bolt of Warm 'n Natural for our charity
quilting group.
The store is HUGE! I've been in superstores but this must be a
mega-superstore.
I did like the way they have their fat quarters displayed--in a special rack
all coordinated by color. Very easy...

Question - When does a Charm become a Scrap??? by
Sharon Harper
Dear Heavenly Angels! If you ever hear me whinge and whine that I have no
stash remind me to look under my desk!!! I have just spent a pleasurably
amazing afternoon sorting my stash. And I'm amazed by what I have.
And what you lot (or some of you) may have over the coming months. Those
people...

New machine! by
Kim Dyer
Just wanted to share. My warhorse Singer seized up at a quilting retreat. I
borrrowed a friend's Janome while I was there. BOY things have changed in 30
years! The old war horse is being repaired, but I bought a new Janome myself.
Now all I want to do is sew! I can see where this may cause the...

Question about large Olfa rotary mat. by
Blimey
I bought a foldable cutting table today at JoAnn's and since they
didn't carry any Olfa cutting mats, I bought a generic one they had
that fit the table that I bought. After getting it home I decided I'd
rather have an Olfa brand mat on top, however Olfa doesn't sell one
that would fit the table...

OTOTOT by
the black rose
I'm not usually one to make prayer requests, but.
The other day in the very early morning before anybody else was awake
(except his mom, who was at work), my little godson, who is forbidden to
go out the door by himself (he doesn't live in a very safe
neighborhood), decided that the stricture...

red and whites? by
Morag in Oxford
Hi all,
After long deliberation I have decided on a red & white theme for the baby
quilt I am making for a friend. I have some red & white ginham, and some
plain white with a floral design, and several other bits and pieces that
will be lovely. I am looking to swap with any of you who might have...

OT Happy Equinox! by
frood
Join me in a happy celebration of the changing of the seasons. The Northern
Hemisphere's change from Summer to Fall is my favorite time of year. Where I
live, the Fall colors of the trees arrive slowly, but are intermixed with
the evergreen pines. This always reminds me of a quilt.
For my friends...

Thanks to everyone for their birthday wishes while I was gone.
We had a great 8 days away touring around the Flinders and Gammon

high 30's ( back home we are between 10 -15)
We met 2 couples from Melinda's area (Newcastle NSW)...

I have volunteered to make a quilt for a Religious order with which I'm
affiliated. I have the pattern done and it will be white squares 8" square
with 2" batik sashing in colors progressing from green to gold, to orange,
to red, to purple to blue. The border will be black with red binding...
