England trip - LNS recs? by
Candy Murphy
I would love to get some LNS recs for my upcoming trip to England! I play
alto sax in a community band in Northern Virginia, and we are going on tour
from June 30 - July 8, playing three concerts (Bath, Bristol, and London)
and doing lots of sightseeing. Because it's a very rigorously...

In search of Teresa Wentzler's original The Castle chart by
[email protected]
I've recently been dragooned into joining a SAL with quite a few others
who have had TW's The Castle chart for years but for one reason or
another have never done so. Now, I KNOW I had the original chart way
back when it first came out because my SO was enamoured of the dragon.
I can't find that...

OT-Chemotherepy re-visited by
Naomah
Back in April I wrote about starting chemotherapy for breast cancer.
Here is my update for those who may be interested. Several of you replied
before and it really helped at that time in my life.
I finished Chemo on July 13. I had about a 3 week break and then the
radiation began.
Yesterday,...

Cross stitching a lot of material by
Sue
I'm cross stitching a baby afghan - 28 squares, with alphabet fairies
in the squares. I put a hoop around the square I'm stitching, but that
leaves a large amount of material to try to deal with. Any suggestions
for what you do with excess material in a project like this? SueW

Winter Sampler and using Watercolors by Caron by
Jangchub
I am wondering what would be the best way to do the border with the
"Emerald" Watercolors so I get the most variegated effect. Do I
stitch all the way up one side and down the other? Will that effect
how it looks at the crossing junctures? Here is a photo of...

Little Happy Dance, sort of.... by
Susan Hartman
This isn't a happy dance about finishing a project (which would be a BIG
HD), but rather a "happy feet" moment about a reunion. As do most of
you, I have waaaay to many projects in my rotation. And others pop up -
an ornament for so-and-so, a bookmark for so-and-so, this design just...

OT - The Saga of Puckster the Springer and his Eye by
ellice
Good news - for those of you who care/remember my whining about the dog,
Puckster, getting whacked in the eye by some metal left by a builder guy.
Having now visited the doggie cardiologist - for his fascinating
echocardiogram - we then finally got in to the cat/dog ophthalmologist, what
fun. ...

Chocolate - never off topic by
Cheryl Isaak
In the WSJ on Oct 25 (yes, I am just getting around to reading last week's
papers) is a brief article on what a dentist hands out for Halloween. To
wit, chocolate with a cocoa content which may help protect teeth against
cavities!
HUZZAH!

Thea Gouverneur St. Petersburg by
Katherine H
Hi all,
I've been mostly a lurker here for about 10 years with the occasional
posting so I'm hoping that someone can help me out on this.
I decided that I'm going to stitch Thea Gouverneur's St. Petersburg
for my niece for her graduation (she just started college and is
majoring in Russian so I...

hoops by
Dana Compton
Since this group was so helpful and kind I am back :)
I use a regular embroidery type hoop to make my little projects. I keep
breaking the wood ones and the plastic ones don't hold very well. Do
you have brands or types that you like? How do you decide what size to
use?

OFF Topic - don't try this one folks by
Cheryl Isaak
Every morning, DD and I have been headed off to the garden for about an
hour, doing some of the heavy work of pruning dead branches and such.
Needless to say, I am getting sore, especially from using the pole saw.
Well, yesterday, I grabbed the capsicum based cream and rubbed in to an

INS reccommendation by
Addie Otto
I recently ordered a kit for a Châtelaine mystery design. It is only
available through European Crosstitch Company www.europeanxs.com (Cindy
Ward, Tennessee) and I can't tell you how pleased I am with the
packaging. All of the flosses are full skeins in Floss Away bags on a
ring. The beads...

Off topic reading for the musically inclined by
Cheryl Isaak
I just finished "Clapton's Guitar: Watching Wayne Henderson Build the
Perfect Instrument" by Allen StJohn. What a great read. I had checked it out
for DH to read, but, since he enjoyed it so much, I read it. Now, I can't
play guitar, but I do enjoy listening to guitar music in many forms.
Well, I...

I'm a convert! by
LizardGumbo
Yes, I do get excited over very mundane things.
I consider myself a fairly novice stitcher, as in, I have a few stitches
in my repertoire and they serve me very well, thankyouverymuch. So
whenever a discussion popped up over the years regarding the double
running (Holbein) stitch, I just...

Touching Base!!! by

I finally managed to get an account on Google, so that I could post, as
well as read. Our trip has been great. We left Florida in mid-May, and
have been seeing the sights and wonders of North America. A large
amount of time was spent going "up" the Rockies. we started with Teton
NP, and then...

Hi everyone-I have a question about getting rid of stash by
marie
I use to be very active on RCTN years ago and drifted away. My cross-stitching addiction has become complacent in the past couple of years and I just cannot seem to get back my enthusiasm. Please do not flame me...it is an innocent question...Ebay no longer seems to be the place to unload stash. ...

Needing help with a vintage crochet pattern by
[email protected]
One of my treasured possessions is a vintage crochet book.
Unfortunately, many of the patterns call for yarn/thread that is no
longer being made, at least not by what the book calls them.
A project I would really like to work on calls for "crochet cord" but
no size is indicated (it's a set of...
