OT - okay, everybody, here's the question by
Karen, Queen of Squishies
Can ANYone on here get through to me at my email address?
Or is EVERYone being bounced?
Something just doesn't look quite right, and I need facts. I've emailed my
isp but I have a feeling I'm going to have to track down a phone number and
talk to them in person. I want to at least sound like...

The Best of the Swamp by
Polly Esther[_2_]
I want to share with you the graduation quilt for our youngest grandson.
The quilt pattern (more or less) is a Tad Plaid from QNM '02. Most of the
fabrics are Sunshine from Moda. You can see the line in lots of shops, most
of it is shown at The Stitch-N-Frame. The backing, a very special...

Pictures up- that troublesome quilt by
Julia Altshuler
Several weeks ago, I posted about the trouble I had working from a
flawed pattern I found in a book. The pattern was supposed to be based
on tile work found in the Moorish Palace, the Alhambra, in Granada,
Spain. Here's the finished quilt:

Overquilting by
Donna in Idaho[_2_]
Is it just me, or are a lot of quilters overquilting their quilts?
I recently attended a quilt show where it seemed to me an awful lot of the
quilts had been quilted way too heavily. It seemed that if the quilter had
a long arm, she thought the quilt should not have one 1/4" that wasn't...

lighting in a quilting room by
Martha[_5_]
Hello!
Well, after several years of totally inadequate lighting, I am going to
have put in good lighting in the room I use to quilt.
The choice has come down to using
1. track lighting with Verilux full spectrum incandescent bulbs

OT Whisks by
NightMist
I love our whisks, my DH loves our whisks, we both hate how we store
our whisks.
Upright in a jar they snag and get tipped over, in a drawer they get
tangled with other utensils, the hanging hooks in my kitchen are
behind the stove (which is just dumb) and the space between the
cupboards and...

Wanted: advice on borders by
Julia in MN
Last fall, I took a "Piping Hot Curves" class from Susan Cleveland. I
completed one "Eye of the Piper" block in class, then left them to work
on Christmas gifts. Last week, I got back to my class project, finished
the blocks, added the small border that the pattern calls for, and am
now...

OT I can't believe I did this by
NightMist
I got kiri to run me out to buy a box of wood screws, and bought a
refrigerator.
I just don't _do_ stuff like that!
But kiri wanted to go to the mall after I got the box of fasteners,
and then bribed me with fish and chips when I didn't wanna (hate the
mall, hate it hate it hate it!), so I went...

Spray Starch by
Mickie Swall[_2_]
I use a lot of spray starch during quiltmaking. Once upon a time (just this year)
was able to purchase Niagara Starch in a non-aerosol plastic spray bottle. Now
the stores no longer carry starch in this type of bottle, they are back to the cans.
I would like to empty the contents of the aerosol...

Blue Ribbon, Swollen Head by
Polly Esther
I'm so swelled up with pride we'll have to open the double doors just to get
me in and out of the house. We'll need a king-size bed and will have to
borrow Rusty's bloomin' quilt just to be able to rest my Big head.
Did I win a blue ribbon? Nay. Better, better, better than that.

OT surgery on wednesday by
Anne Rogers[_3_]
Just thought I'd let you all know I'm having hip surgery on wednesday,
I'm specifically anxious about post operative pain, though probably
overly so as I have had a botched surgery in the past. All my previous
surgeries have been in the UK and they are much happier to have you stay
in hospital...

Surveys in your guild - what do you think? by
Kathy in NH
The guild I belong to has been around for 20 years and we have
probably done a total of 2 surveys in that time. We are thinking
about having the general membership complete a survey once every 2
years or so. I was wondering if any of you have an opinion on what
should be included in a survey of...

Here we go again ... G by
Sandy
I've just finished making the quilt top from a Sharyn Craig class
(Northwind blocks), and once again I'm puzzling over what sort(s) of
quilting motif(s) to use when I quilt it. :S I love to quilt (machine or
hand), but I really hate having to decide *how* to quilt! G Any
suggestions? The top...

Been quiet but my hands haven't.
This is to 'replace' an afghan I made DS in '83.
It's taken a month to do it and re-do it until I was happy. this is the
first of the repeats. not sure If I'll do 6 or 7. I do so want it done by
Christmas this year:
Photos haven't been cropped..you can see the...
