quilter's gloves by
quilter
Hi all, I'm buying supplies for my first quilting classes in August,
and one of the lists requires quilter's gloves or some equivalent. I
can't find any around here in stores to try, so I'm buying online - is
any one kind better than another? Some I've...

How wide of a cut by
~KK in BC~
I want to make a double binding (ie: folded in half and then sewn on and
hand stitched to the backside.
How wide is the norm for cutting this type of binding? Or is there a set
norm or is it simply personal preference?
Just an inquiring mind.
I know what I did, but what would you do?

New girly quilt. by
John
I am starting a new quilt. It is in pale pastels and my wife calls it
girly. I guess compared to the others I have done it is girly. No dark
contrasting colors. Pale pink flowers and pale blue flowers on a white
background. white/white brocade contrast blocks. Dusty rose for the
full color blocks....

OT - Road Trip by
TerriLee in WA \(state\)
Well, maybe some is on topic, because I'm looking for info on quilt shops
and whether or not anyone lives close to where we're going. :-)
In May, my DH and I are taking a 2-week road trip with his parents. Now,
some of you may go "OMG, what are you thinking?" but I love my inlaws, and
they're...

Retreat question? by
Julia in MN
I am working with the camp where I go to retreats on planning some
publicity. I'm curious -- how far would you travel to attend a 2-day,
middle of the week, retreat where you simply worked on your own projects
-- no classes or anything. Meals and lodging are included in the cost of
the retreat....

Fell over whilst on holiday last week in Poznan, Poland, I thought it
was just a bad sprain to ny right ankle so refused to go to hospital as
it was our last day...
Limped home thru Luton Airport (ouch - it was a long walk!) and when we
got home rang my Dr and got an appt for later that day....

HAPPY DANCE!!! Ten Year WIP is DONE!! by
monique
I finished it! I began it so long ago, with only an idea and no pattern
and really no idea of how to do things easily. Sheer
Yankee-heritage/Texas-upbringing stubbornness made me continue to think
I could finish it. Often I despaired. In between its conception and
birth I did sooo many...

OT - sort of: Down comforters by
Patti S
I have a very nice, ridiculously expensive down comforter. When I bought
it, it was "baffled" so the feathers wouldn't shift. With a number of
years of use, a lot of the stitching/baffling has come out, mostly in
the center where it gets the most wear, and I noticed this past winter,
that all the...

Ping! Jan aka CoffeeDiva by
teleflora
Jan, did you go to the MQS at the OP convention center? A friend and I
drove up yesterday and spent 6 hours! I'm exhausted! And overwhelmed.
We are thinking about buying a long arm together. We are both FM
challenged.
The quilts were absolutely stunning.

Quilt Guild Disapointment by
Boca Jan
Last night I went to my local guild meeting (something I have been trying to
get to for about 18 months) and - ready? - I was turned away at the door.
They would not accept any one time guests, new members, visitors......what a
disapointment. There is another guild in So. Fl. but it is a farther...

when quilts don't want to go where they were intended.... by
off kilter quilter
So, DH has a lovely youn coworker (married) who is expecting her first
child in September. I thought a nice quilt would be good for her. DH
then reminded me that his former office always put a quilt together for
the first child in the family, born while a parent was employed there.
So...he...

happy dance for a top finished by
Anne in CA
I have another top to add to my hope chest. How many do I need
completed before my divorce is final? This one makes 5 I think. ;-)
This one was made from blocks sent me for my birthday from various
friends. I think setting sampler type quilt is one of my most favorite
activities these days...

Finding things by
Taria
Today was a tad frustrating around here. Our house just went on the
market and we are getting ready to move. My sewing area is broken
down and stuff is in 2 houses. I finally got a lap quilt pinned.
First I got it almost finished to find the backing a tad short on
one end. Unpin and start over....

quilting question... by
Jessamy
while wresting with the monster show quilt I was wondering.. can you quilt a
quilt using the reverse button on your sewing machine and if so does it look
as good as going forwards?
if so then I can save myself a *lot* of wrestling as I do the small accent
triangles I *need* to do to make the quilt...

Is it too early for a calming tipple? by
Fey
Just spent a frustrating 3/4 hour rethreading my D)&@# overlocker
(serger). Why is it always the lower looper that needs rethreading?
Thought I'd get on and finish a liene for DH that I've had in the
"nearly ready to start on this one" pile and thought I was powering long
nicely till the rotten...

OT Bidding on eBay by
Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
I know that there's a service that will slam in a bid on eBay at the final
seconds of an auction. Does anybody know the name of this service or
something about how it works? Does it cost extra??? I'm tired of losing out
at the last moment for mere pennies.
