Book bragging by
Marcella Peek
Hi! I was asked to write a glossary for a friend's latest quilting
book. The book is due out on April 12 but last night the publisher let
us know that they are going to also do an e-book download version that
is on sale starting today. So, I'm here to brag that I'm sort of
published :-)
The...

Longest Thread so far in 2006 by
~KK in BC~
Ok, so maybe I have too much time on my hands..?
I went looking into the archives and of course totally forgot what I went
looking for in the first place. I then noticed that there are some very
short threads and some that go on to great lengths!
Of all the ones I looked at from Jan 2006 to now,...

Finishing UFO and/or Choosing Project (LONG) by
Pat in Virginia
In my HD thread, someone (She maybe) asked about how my guild's
UFO challenge works. In the Stuck thread, several posters ask
about how to choose a project and move on. I think a description
of the UFO challenge will answer that issue. Here goes.
The Organizers (L&N) set the 'rules' as follows....

4 needles in an hour.... by
Johanna Gibson
What am I doing wrong? I've broken 4 needles in the last hour.
These were size 80 Schmetz needles too! I'm sewing a polycotton duvet
cover, with polycotton thread, and the project is eating needles like
there is no tomorrow. I've had enough. Even reading contract law is
better than...

Swaps... by
maryd
What do you do when you are involved in swaps and never hear back that the
blocks you sent were received? I put a lot of time and thought into blocks
I made last year and not sure some ever made it "home". I love making
blocks for swaps and hugs but get discouraged when I never hear back after...

Nikki's quilt finished! by
Johanna Gibson
Nikki's purple plaid/denim quilt is finished. After sewing that
binding on for hours each day, you'd think I would remember to post
about it. I have to make a label, and I have to finish the 2 patching
pillows, but it is in fact done.
Her birthday is tomorrow, but she'll be away in Forfar to...

Strange odor in fun foam by
MB
This has nothing to do with quilting but hopefully someone here
might have an answer to a little problem. Today I went to Joann's
to find something for 2nd grade kiddies for Valentines' Day as dh and I
were invited for a Grandparent's luncheon at school. I found a little
kit to make V. Day...

OT ho ho ho by
Polly Esther
Knowing full well that some of you don't begin Christmas shopping until Dec
24th, I thought you might like to see a great find. There are always some
teens on our gift list who like $s the best. They might prefer their very
own oil refinery or McDonald's branch since their gas tanks and...

A message from Nurse Nice by
John
I just got back from taking my wife to the dentist where she had some
oral surgery done on both sides of her mouth. My day will consit of
changing out the mouthwash spittoon and feeding her vicodin. The poor
girl is so out of it, she really dosen't know what is going on. The
whole house is torn up...

Shadow Trumpanto by
Kathy Applebaum
If you had the DVD's for Linda's Longarm Quilting season two, you'd see her
episode on shadow trapunto, and you'd see my quilt on the show. :)
My first time I just dove in. One thing I learned right away is that you
need a STRONGLY colored fabric/batting/fleece for the shadow. And that thin
muslin...

FAN QUILT REVISTED... by
Paula
First, I would like to thank everyone who made suggestions for my fan
problem. You are all truly very kind and gracious!
Now..... I went to a Sewing Expo in Chantilly, VA this morning and bought a
Curve Master presser foot. What a neat thing! No pinning or cutting the
curves. It took me a...

S.E.X. and stuff by
Tina
Well I finally got out and about yesterday. After three really rough
weeks and not feeling very well physically, I decided I had just flat,
HAD ENOUGH! Told DH that I was taking the day "Off" so to speak and
would not be held responsible for anyONE else or anyTHING else for the
day.
Headed cross...

Deciding on Quilt Size? by
dogmom
When you aren't sure of a specific purpose for a gift quilt, what determines
how big you make it? When it turns into an odd size do you just finish it or
do you try to make it a more useful size? One reason I like giving folks I
love quilts is that they're very practical gifts--but not if their...

keeping the roll call by
Susan Laity Price
I have not found the time to right my own bio response but have
enjoyed reading everyone else's. I plan to keep all the responses in a
folder with the directory. Someone please remind me who started this
thread. I think they deserve a reward (soft of course).

OT slow newsreader.. can anyone help? by
Allison
For the past couple of months my newsreader has been much slower than
normal. It can take up to 10 seconds to load a message now whereas
before it was almost instantaneous. And the few times I've tried to
post to the newsgroup I thought it was going to time out.
I'm presently using the...

My best friend brought her sewing machine over to me last night to see if I
could do anything with it. Her boyfriend bought it for her last Christmas
so she has had it for a little over a year. It is a Brother XL6562. I think
he got it at WalMart. sigh I don't know why he didn't ask me first. ...

Quilt week Day 3 Sunday by
maryd
An advantage to having DH out of town, I don't have as many distractions to
take me from my quilting. Today I finished piecing a mystery quilt and put
the border on. Tomorrow I hope to get a ride to town and get backing for
it. I got out some pre-quilted fabric that had been given to me. Cut it...

what to do with fabric that feels like crap by
Medium Gnome
Somehow quilting fabric that feels like crap sneaks its way into our stashes
occasionally and stays for a very long time.
What do you all do with it after you've decided not to use it in a quilt?
