non-reflective coating by
Martin Tosas
Hi there,
I need a piece of transparent non-reflective glass, 500mm^2. A German
company could provide me with it for £260 + £150 shipment!!! too much
expensive for what I want to do. So maybe it’s cheaper to apply a
non-reflective coating to a normal piece of glass.
Does anybody know where could...

Foiling - just around the edges of two panes of glass by
Mary
This isn't a stained glass project, but uses some of the same
materials. I'm hoping that this group can confirm whether I'm on the
right track.
I have an image on a clear decal that I am putting between two pieces
of 4x6 glass (project for my mom's church). I want to have a dark
metal border...

I need to get some glass shapes made... by
Mary England
Hi Everyone,
I have a question about getting some glass shapes made. They are
symmetrical about one vertical axis, and hollow. Imagine them shaped
like bells and you won't be too far off. The objects will rest on the
ground and will house lights. The glass needs to be really tough
because someone...

chipping while grinding by
Masqqqqqqq
I have an Inland twin spin disk grinder. When I grind the edges of the
glass, it leaves the glass with small chips along the edges. How can I prevent
the chipping and get a perfect edge?

Light shaping borosilicate tube with air/acetylene torch by
Matt
I was wondering if it would be possible to do some light shaping of
borosilicate tube with an air/acetylene torch? The type of work I would
like to do it take a length of tube and enlarge or constrict the
opening and do some light bending say no more than 30 degrees. Would
this be possible? As I...

"Frosted"glass by
Matthew Eash
I am trying to find (or create) a 48 high x 24 wide panel of "frosted" glass
for a door. Since it is in a door, tempered glass or other shatter
resistant glass should be used. Most stores recommend sandblasting the
glass to give a very even texture. A 3/16 tempered sandblasted sheet is
about $80...

Q: Best Glue by
Matthew Lybanon
I am making some 3-dimensional glass objects, made of stacks of stained
glass triangles. I have tried several types of glue, but after it dries
I can easily pull the triangles apart. I would like to use a glue that
is colorless and will keep these triangles stacked. Has anybody done...

Stained glass cabinet design by
Matthew Lybanon
We have seen a web page with information about how to build a stained
glass storage cabinet by adding metal strapping as dividers, but (of
course) are unable to find the page again. The general idea is simple
enough that we can probably figure out how to do it. But the article
had some tips...

ADVICE: Large Stained Glass Piece by
Matthew Lybanon
My wife works in stained glass, using the copper foil technique. She
has been asked to make a large rectangular piece to cover a window, and
is not sure it is feasible with that technique (can it be made rigid
enough?). The project is not to make the window itself, but to make a
rectangular...

Advice on Strip/Circle Cutters by
Matthew Lybanon
I would like to buy my wife (a stained glass worker) a strip/circle
cutter as a gift. I know that both Inland and Glastar (and other
companies) sell one, and I don't know enough to choose between them. I
would appreciate any recommendations, comments, advice, discussion of
pros and cons, etc.,...

Looking for glass beads (3/4", about 100) by
[email protected]
Hi all,
I live in Canada, and I'm looking for 100 clear glass beads, 3/4"
(18-20 mm) in diameter, for an art project. I have NO IDEA where to
start looking. The marbles in local toy stores are all half-inch "cat
eyes," but I'm looking for something a bit bigger and without any bits
in the...
