Waaaaah! :-( by
suzilem
I just had my first chunk-o-glass fracture in my kiln. :-( I was slumping
a 3.5"x3.5" shallow dish and it cracked right down the middle and flung its
two halves to opposite sides of my kiln (granted, since the cavity is only
8"x8" they didn't fling far). What's REALLY annoying is this...

Choosing Lamp Bases for Stained Glass Lampshades by
Suzan
Hi folks!
I recently completed a nice 4 panel lampshade with a fish motif, and made
(with a mold) a ceramic base for it. When I put them together, I found that
the base just didn't look right with the shade. Both the size and the shape
of the base didn't look right.
Are there some guidelines for...

Wooden Frame for Panel by
Suzan
Hi Folks!
I've just made a wooden frame for a 16" x 20" leaded panel. It's made with
1" thick by 2" wide poplar, has an extra deep rabbet to accommodate the
panel and has a 1/4" strip to secure it in place. The corners are mitered
and the pieces were assembled with carpenter's glue and one heavy...

Fabric Backed Glass Plates? by
Susan Maher
At a recent craft show I saw a display of clear glass dinner plates which
had been backed with fabric. The fabric was then sealed. Since I work in a
fabric store, this would be a great way to use remnants. Could anyone here
give me instructions on how to do this? I would greatly appreciate the...

Wear Of Fused Cast AZS Block In The Superstructure And Crown by
Sunriserefractory
In the past, wear of superstructure refractories, primarily silica crowns, is probably the most serious concern. Fused cast AZS block has been suggested as an alternative to the traditional silica crown as it has good corrosion against and can slow the wear of superstructure and improve the life of...
