PING Jo caramel apples by
Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
This is a really cool but different take on caramel apples. You may want to try this instead of the ones with the caramel sliding off ;-) for ease of eating plus the originality!

Shadow Trumpanto by
Kathy Applebaum
If you had the DVD's for Linda's Longarm Quilting season two, you'd see her
episode on shadow trapunto, and you'd see my quilt on the show. :)
My first time I just dove in. One thing I learned right away is that you
need a STRONGLY colored fabric/batting/fleece for the shadow. And that thin
muslin...

OT if chocolate is really OT by
Cats
OK all you US-based chocolate fanatics. According to this
site -
http://www.sfu.ca/geog351fall03/groups-webpages/gp8/consum/consum.html
even Australia rates higher than the States!
That is not necessarily something for us to be proud of, but
clearly some of you are slacking off on the chocky...

o/t News - ssshhh it's a secret! by
Morag in Scotland
Hi all,
Very excited. Have just found out that I am pregnant again and the baby is
due first week in June. Feeling a wee bit sick but otherwise OK, but tired.
Seem to be getting big quickly - almost out of my jeans already and i'm only
6 weeks. Hoping it's not twins, or triplets....

Please report on the Long Beach show by
Susan Laity Price
Would someone who attended please report on the Long Beach show? Did
they work out the long lines which were a problem last year? Did
anyone notice The Quilt Merchant booth? It would have been all
reproduction fabrics.

Machine needles for quilting Q. by
Bronnie[_2_]
Hi folks
Just wondering what machine needle you use for machine quilting. Do
you always use the 'quilting needle' or just use a fine point or
standard one if you are not doing an extra special quilt?
I try to use the quilting needle, but often times I only have standard
or fine point ones and...

Free quilting programs to watch online by
Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
Now that yard work and leaf clean-up is pretty much over for most of
us it's time to get inspired to quilt away the winter blues. I've
been researching free quilting programs to watch online and found a
new resource at www.quilterstv.com. They are just getting started
and I have great hopes for...

Been on a trip by
CaroleD-Retired and Loving It
I got a phone message saying I hadn't posted much on RCTQ lately, but I
don't know if it involved the newgroup or the Facebook group. Anyway, I'm
here! I've just returned from a two week Lindblad/National Geographic Photo
Expedition to Alaska and British Columbia, thanks to my daughter. I...

S.E.X. and stuff by
Tina
Well I finally got out and about yesterday. After three really rough
weeks and not feeling very well physically, I decided I had just flat,
HAD ENOUGH! Told DH that I was taking the day "Off" so to speak and
would not be held responsible for anyONE else or anyTHING else for the
day.
Headed cross...

Kate's WW menu plan for quilters! by
Kate Dicey
This is a fairly typical summer week. I do more hot stuff if the
weather is cooler. If the weather turns cold, it's easy to substitute
steamed broccoli or green beans and carrots for a salad. My menus are
based on 18 points per day.
Breakfasts: I'm not a big breakfast fan, but I do have...

News O' Mine--OT and otherwise by
joan8904 in Bellevue Nebraska
I taught my first class at the Country Sampler Quilt Shop (Papillion
NE) last night. It was a Needlepunch class and, I thought, great fun.
By the time the ladies left, I felt they were all punching confidently.
I do love teaching. And punchneedle embroidery is a neat, quick and
satisfying old/new...

Nikki's quilt finished! by
Johanna Gibson
Nikki's purple plaid/denim quilt is finished. After sewing that
binding on for hours each day, you'd think I would remember to post
about it. I have to make a label, and I have to finish the 2 patching
pillows, but it is in fact done.
Her birthday is tomorrow, but she'll be away in Forfar to...

Well now, even with the internet, I try Really Hard to support my LQS's -

me a Thimbleberries Club 2004 membership to one about 1/2 hour north from

Double Happy Dance! by
Maureen Wozniak
I finally (took a year to do the hand appliqué) finished a quilt. And
DBF likes it enough that he agreed to hang it in the dining room.
Last summer--nearly a year ago--Suzanne Marshall did a workshop on her
take away appliqué for our guild. Finally finished that one block,
added some borders,...

Deciding on Quilt Size? by
dogmom
When you aren't sure of a specific purpose for a gift quilt, what determines
how big you make it? When it turns into an odd size do you just finish it or
do you try to make it a more useful size? One reason I like giving folks I
love quilts is that they're very practical gifts--but not if their...

keeping the roll call by

I have not found the time to right my own bio response but have
enjoyed reading everyone else's. I plan to keep all the responses in a
folder with the directory. Someone please remind me who started this
thread. I think they deserve a reward (soft of course).

Quilt week Day 3 Sunday by
maryd
An advantage to having DH out of town, I don't have as many distractions to
take me from my quilting. Today I finished piecing a mystery quilt and put
the border on. Tomorrow I hope to get a ride to town and get backing for
it. I got out some pre-quilted fabric that had been given to me. Cut it...
