Al was ahead of his time by
Notal Kyder
My brother struggled with addiction, of that there is no secret. Even
the most noble and intelligent amoung us has succumbed to the sweet
siren song of drugs. For Samuel Taylor Coleridge, it was opium. For
Rush Limbaugh, it was OxyContin. And for Al, toward the end of his
days, it was sauerkraut...

"Frosted"glass by
Matthew Eash
I am trying to find (or create) a 48 high x 24 wide panel of "frosted" glass
for a door. Since it is in a door, tempered glass or other shatter
resistant glass should be used. Most stores recommend sandblasting the
glass to give a very even texture. A 3/16 tempered sandblasted sheet is
about $80...

Nickel Plating by
Maggie
I have seen some beautiful stained glass pieces that have been plated with
either nickel or gold. The person who was selling them told me she crafted
the items herself and then sent them away to be plated. I asked where and
she would not tell me. Do any of you have information on this. It gave...

Dremel Versatip for Soldering Stained Glass by
Philip Lewis
I was thinking of getting it for doing stained glass. The tool touts
1000+ deg (F i assume) temps, which should be plenty to solder, but
i'm a bit worried that it only has a 30W heating element.
I'm new to stained glass (all but cemented my first piece) and found
my pencil iron is not up to the...

Possible masking methods/materials by
neilr
Hi folks,
]
I am investigating methods of producing jewellery pieces displaying
fairly detailed designs.
Preferably I would like to produce the images (gold on silver background)
using electroplating/electroforming. Alternatively and perhaps in addition
I may apply the designs on the silver...

Dichroic glass question by
CWatters
I was thinking of purchasing some dichroic glass from a distrubutor for a
project. It's sold for fusing but I don't have a kiln. Can you tell me if
the surface is easily scratched? Does it need to be laminated/fused with
clear glass to protect it?
Thanks

Solder by
Maggie
I generally use 60/40 solder and it works well for me. Can anyone tell me
about 50/50 and 63/37 Solder. When would you use them?
I was given some solder and it is unlabeled. I am sure it is not 60/40. It
sets up fast and gives a textured look which I don't care for.
