attaching velcro to canvas by gdh
I'm new at this posting, and not sure this is the right place to post. I am trying to attach velcro to the canvas top on my boat. When we sleep in the boat we always end up using clamp and clothes pins to attach a fabric over the plastic windows for privacy. My idea is to use something like a...

efficacy of pants pressers? by [email protected]
I always press my pants because they're pure cotton. And because they were properly tailored to measure, so pressing them makes them last longer, too. I'm intruiged by the pants-presser appliances I've seen (for example, at Hammacher Schlemmer). Do these things really work well?

Clothing dying by [email protected]
Hi everyone! I have a pair of black pants that I LOVE, and they have started to fade and look horrible. They are 98% cotton, 2% spandex. I have heard that it should be fairly easy to dye them back to a nice dark black, but I'm not very crafty or anything, so I was hoping to get some advice...

Help - need needle plate for Brother VX-2013 by She who would like to be obeyed once every Preston
Help! I need a replacement needle plate for my Brother VX-2013. Apparently, at no more than 13 years old, the machine is "obsolete", which means that my only chance of finding a spare is if a dealer/ repair man has one kicking about somewhere in a forgotten box of bits. Brother UK are unable/...

Anyone up for a little Singer troubleshooting help? by David Nebenzahl
My (previously) trusty Singer no longer sews, and I can't figure out why. It's a "No. 15", at least according to Singer's serial # scheme from their website. (Except that the manual I downloaded shows a treadle machine while mine has that newfangled e-lectric motor; the kind with gears instead of...

I'm in despeate need to find a pattern for this dress. I've kept the picture for years, hoping that I would find a similar one, or find someone talented enough to make it without a pattern. I don't know who the designer for this one was. I know it was in a Saks wedding brochure I got a while...

Husqvarna software by [email protected]
Does anyone here use Husqvarna software? I have created a design with a cats head, and with wording beneath it , from the built in fonts. I now find the density of the words is too great, & i want to have it looser, but I can't work out how to do the words but not the cats head. I have been to...

What type of fabric clamp is this? by jw
Does any one know what a clamp or clip that has this outline is called. It is used to hold the components of a quilt down to a table for pinning. It slides over the table's edge and hold the fabric in place. _________________ | __ | __ / \_____ |

questions about elastic by S
I'm confused and am hoping some kind soul will be able to help me. When I go to look at elastic, I find several different types of elastic. There's non-roll, which does seem reasonably self-explanitory, if it works. But what about braided and knitted and plain old flat elastic. Where should the...

Singer Nostalgic 30 by John Taylor
