Thermopane window question by
Bart V
This one is probably right up your alley Javahut: a while ago I had a
busted window replaced and saved the old one. The glass on only one of
the sides is broken, the other is still intact. It's a 3/4" no-frill
thermopane (double glass, vinyl & aluminum frame). I'm wondering, why
couldn't I make up...

Thermal Pane by
Michael[_2_]
I visited with a very nice lady at Southern Glass down here at
Jacksonville a few days ago. They were using a perimeter spacer and
adding a eighth-inch plate of glass to either side, making the panes a
complete and energy-efficient window between outside and inside.
Has anybody else done this? ...

Thermal Expansion by
Terra
I know different types of glass expand differently, and it is not wise
to fuse together dissimilar pieces, but does anyone know of a place where
you can get facts and figures on what expands and contracts how?

the price of glass by
[email protected]
It's been years since I purchased glass (i'm in the process of setting
up a new studio
over here in Western Turkey) I'm no longer living in the USA. and I
don't know what things
cost back there these days.
I just found someone in the country selling glass sheets at
about $45-55 a square...

The Power of Being Established by
Glassman
I'm finding that the last couple of years my job volume has gone way
down, but the job size has gone way up. Everytime I think I'm going to slit
my wrists, a huge job falls in my lap. It's the in between time that's
baffling. I just don't see the small repairs and commissions as much
anymore. ...

The Former JK Glassman cometh by
JKGlassman[_2_]
Hey what's shakin' folks? Looking forward to hearing the latest on the
industry, etc. I'm guessing prices are up up up, and the regulars are still
hangin in there? Should I take my stimulous chack and invest it in lead
rather than gold? LOL

The Dying SG Retail Store by
Glassman
My sense, after talking with people around the country, is that the
stained glass retail store is quickly becoming extinct. A combination of
things is to blame. Cheap lamp and panel imports from China, Korea, and
Mexico was the start. Then it was mailorder & wholesalers selling to anyone.
Now...

the best way to crush glass to make frits by
joe draper
Hi
Has anybody got a better method to crush glass to make frits? At the moment
I am putting it between canvas and whacking it with a 21/2 pound hammer but
the canvas does not last very long and I end up with bits of the cloth in
the glass. Any ideas will be well appreciated.
Thanks
Joe

Thanks for looking - I know this is not an ad group! by
lampbay[_3_]
I have a few glassware items for auction that may be of interest to some
newsgroup readers. A set of cut or pressed glass candle holders, a
piece of Murano mid century table glass, an elegant vase and a dark
green table bowl. These are potential Mother's day gifts with expedited
shipping. ...

Thanks for everything by
Bart V[_2_]
Hi folks,
If there's anyone left to read this that is - thanks for answering all
my questions over the years. Thanks to you I became a pretty good
stained glass dude. Too bad it never took me anywheres income, or
jobwise, although I did end up with a few nice pieces for myself.
I'll probably keep...
