Ir filtration system - any recommendations? by Kris Krieger
Hi, ALl, I was wondering whether anyone is familiar with air- filtration/fume hood type systems suitble for a very small in-home glassworking bench. Best would be somehting that coudl be lifted onto the working surface during soldering/grinding (tho' I intend to do most of my grinding outside,...

Window reinforcement by Michael[_2_]
I've seen rigid metal reinforcement bars stretching across big windows. I've never used them but I know they are necessary sometimes. Can you recommend a source of information for how the bars are attached to a window? Also, I've been looking at several stained glass web sites, but I haven't...

Shift to fusing by Michael[_2_]
I don't remember what the thread was, but someone mentioned that traditional leaded glass work appears to be in decline with a growing popularity in baking it. I got a Bullseye catalog today in the mail and the truth in that statement is verified by the emphasis in their catalog. Shake and...

Newbie Mistakes by Michael[_2_]
I'm making them all, I think. Here's a good one: I bought a fancy pistol-grip cutter with oil in it. Some leaked out overnight because the screw was loose. I tightened it but had oil on the cutter and some on my hands. It didn't seem to hurt my grip much so I didn't bother to wash everything...

Copper taping machines by Michael[_2_]
Well here is probably another tired subject. I've heard some speak approvingly of machines that do a good and fast and efficient job of copper taping. I've got a catalog with a Glastar machine. Is it any good? Are any of them any good? If yes, which ones? Thanks, Michael

Grinder Problems by Michael[_2_]
When I first got my new grinder I was thrilled with it, but I've been having problems recently and I'm thinking about sending it back to the manufacturer. Yesterday I spent almost 20 minutes grinding on a piece and it was still too small. Michael

My heart is sad, for those that care by Javahut[_4_]
I found out today just how brief life is, and how odd it can be. Many people here have followed the trials and tribulations of Michael Robison. For those that don't read here often, Michael came in the group not all that long ago with a new energy and excitement for a craft he did 20 years...

art or craft by [email protected]
Is what we do an art or a craft? Was to a local "art" show this summer and kinda came away ticked off. All the oil paintings and watercolours were in the art tents, whilst all the stained glass was shuffled off to the craft tents. Admittidly, Aunt Martha's 13 piece rooster made into a...

Glass Software/ techniques? by Moonraker
I'm interested in some software recommendations or (how- to- use techniques) that will easily and simply let me scan a photo and convert it to a SG pattern. My objective is to be able to scan a hard-copy photo of an item....a handgun, a pet, a flower, maybe even a landscape... and then convert...

Bevels...by the inch by Scribble
If any of you stained glass people wouldn't mind sharing, I'm wondering about the going rates for custom bevels. I'm mainly interested in cut-off prices for now. What's a fair price to have the ends of over-the-counter bevels re-beveled after they've been cut to fit a pattern? These are usually...

a Glass Clear material??? by rasmus andersson
I am looking for a Glass Clear material that can be used as a grout/joint(?) for a mosaic. The mosaic is made of small glass tiles so the material has to adhere to glass,(and wood). I have tried with an acrylic paste but it does not adhere very well to the glass, and during evaporation it looses to...
