Drilling holes in glass by
FlameNwind
Now that I have started having some fusing successes, I wanted to try
drilling holes in the fused glass. I have my little dremel out and set up
in a mini-drill press. Also, I probably have just about every diamond drill
bit known to man...and still the fused glass breaks. I have had some
success...

Fusing fusing fusing by
Kalera
Today I finally moved all the random crap that's been clotting up my
studio space, hauled my fusing kiln out of the basement, and am in the
middle of the first fusing project I've done since we started
construction in January. Just a bunch of cabochons, but you know, it
feels nice.
Now if I...

Who is your favourite glass-craft guru? by
Tony Burch
Hi all,
I was just pondering the idea of "gurus" & I thought the following questions
may hopefully make some interesting & entertaining discussion:)
Including people in this newsgroup & others in the field, whom do you
consider to be the present-day "gurus" in glass-craft? ...I mean the people...

choosing a glass grinder by
[email protected]
I need some help choosing a glass grinder. I took some stained glass
classes a while ago and started a fairly large project (it is a window
with a geometric pattern) Since then the man who had the stained glass
store moved and the store closed. Unfourtantly I was not able to buy a
grinder from...

Mid-size Kiln ??? by
Moonraker
I've been thinking about switching kilns...
Anybody got any feedback on the Evenheat Hot Shot or Skutt Hotstart or
similar kilns?
Who has the best prices?
Does Olympic have anything similar to the two mentioned above?

Critical Dimensions For Mixing Venturi? by
The Lightning Stalker
Hello. Does anyone know what parts of a gas inspirator (venturi)
primarily affect the fuel/air ratio? I've tried searching high and low
for the answer to this and can't find it anywhere. It seems like a
black art or something.
See, what I'm doing is building a reproduction of a pest scaring...

Pattern material and matching glass by
[email protected]
I have been experimenting with 6 to 10 mil (0.006-0.010) thick mylar as
a pattern. Since there is 0.02 clearance in the cutter wheel, I can
get right next to the cutter wheel and get good support from the fairly
ridgid maylar edge. I am using a thin point Sharpie to mark the
pattern outlines on...

adding firebrick to fiber-lined kiln by
EJ
Has anyone done this? I have a fiber lined kiln (brick bottom) that I
would like to increase the insulation efficiency of. What I'm trying
to achieve is this ... being able to turn off my kiln sooner, rather
than keeping it on to ramp down slowly. There are going to be days
when I just can't...

Glass tubes by
skdilts1
Does anyone know where to get Borosilicate glass tubes about 1 1/2 '' in
diameter without having to buy a boatload? The length is not so important as
I can cut them to what I need. Thank You, Sharon

Door Insert Strength by
Harold E. Keeney \(Hal\)
Have an existing door at a sea shore cottage. The
owner wants an insert, (21" x 35") on the inside.
As this involves grandkids running in and out with
the usual "slam", what kind of strength would be
needed for this kind of use?
My thinking at present is to use copper foil with
copper-plated...

Glass saw kicking my butt by
MissMouse
Ok I need help. I have a wire saw and I think I might like it but I cant
keep the marks for my pattern on the glass long enough to get anything cut
out with out going nuts. I have even tried using spry mount to put the
pattern in the glass.
Any ideas would be welcome.
Thanks
Mouse
