OT -- Wanted by
blackrosequilts
Wanted:
A computer that breaks down less often than I do.
I got a new computer 2 and a half weeks ago. Its power supply went
kerphlooey Tuesday morning.
They're making good on it and sending a tech over to our house to
install a new power supply.

Calla Lilies by
blackrosequilts
I have an acquaintance who would like to try her hand at making a quilt.
She wants to try pieced calla lily blocks -- I don't know how many,
forgot to ask -- she knows her way around a sewing machine so she could
probably manage a pieced block. She does NOT want to do applique.
So my question is,...

Mariner's Compass (photo link) by
blackrosequilts
http://tinyurl.com/fltw4
Definitely the biggest medallion of any kind that I've ever made. The
compass is 48" across. Finished quilt will be about 64" square. The
background is a black batik with slight shadings of blue that set off
the compass nicely.
This one is going to raise money for...

OT -- Le Tour -- WOW! by
blackrosequilts
Floyd Landis fans, can you believe this? As I type Landis has broken
ahead of the yellow jersey group and is *flying* across the 5+ minute
gap to the breakaway. He's gained back more than 3 minutes of the 8 he
lost yesterday on La Toussuire. What a move! WOW!
If he loses this gamble, well,...

I should stick to quilts by
blackrosequilts
I'm making a quilted bag. How hard can it be?
Too hard for the likes of me, that's for sure. First I don't buy enough
fabric for it. Then I don't quilt it the way I wanted to (brain fart).
Then I put the pockets on in the wrong place, and to top THAT off, I
attach them with a nice complicated...

OT- thank you by
blackrosequilts
Last year and the first quarter of this year are not a time I ever want
to repeat. Tragedy, loss, and a lot of pain and stress. It was not a
fun time. The good news is, I don't have cancer. The bad news is, I
had a large tear inside my hip that needed surgery to fix.
I got a ton of squishies...

OT- Easter egg, the Morning After (photo link) by
blackrosequilts
I was making Easter eggs today (for us Orthodox, Easter is the 23rd, a
week after western Easter). One of the eggs developed all-over stress
fractures while being simmered in the red dye. I peeled it to find an
egg that looked like the morning after a heck of a bender. My guys got
a huge kick...

Lesson of the Day by
blackrosequilts
Do not use partial seams when a 1.5" square is involved. Especially not
when you're making 24 blocks each of which involves a partial seam on a
1.5" square. You WILL go barking mad.
ARF! ARF!

What to do with worn out cutting mats by
blackrosequilts
I have an 18x24 Olfa mat that's on its last legs. Thing is, it belonged
to my mother. She cut the fabric for the one and only quilt she ever
made, that she was still working on when she was diagnosed with cancer
and never finished. I don't want to just throw it out.
So can I do anything useful...

The Not So Really Green Quilt, finished (photo link) by

I needed to wash it to get the stencil markings out before taking pics. :-)
My apologies for the quality of recent pics, my digital camera hasn't
been focusing properly lately.
You can't tell from the photo, but the lime greens are really really
bright, as in, they practically glow in the dark. ...

Newbie by
Blaster Master
Hey all,
I'm new to the newsgroup and thought I'ld say "Hi!". I learned to quilt
from my Mom, who IMO makes the most beautiful quilts, but I may be biased.
:-) I do have a question though, years ago I cut out pieces for a quilt
using a 'baby block' design/pattern. Anyways, Mom said the best way...
