pinking shears sharpening? (US) by
Elizabeth Young
I have tried to get my Wiss pinking shears sharpened locally. No good.
No one does it anymore around here anymore (Sacramento CA).
Boo Hoo
Does anyone have a contact for some place in the US where I can send my
pinking shears for sharpening?

Another happy dance :) by
Sandy
Baravelle Spirals is finished! I had such a good time making this, and
now I just have to wait until January for the local guild's challenge
competition. In the meantime, I've posted pictures of the quilt on a
temporary page, which I will have to take down in a few days. There are
no links to...

A small finish by
Sandy
Carol Doak's online paper piecing group was treated to a BOM over the
course of the past year. I finished each block as it came out -- all in
3" squares -- and then couldn't think how to put them together in
something a bit different from a 3 x 4 setting. As I was thinking about
that last...

OT Need gift suggestion by
Pat in Virginia
With the holiday season starting soon, I find I need to buy at least one
grab bag or gift swap gift. We will be picking one and then others have the
chance to take it away. The gift should be worth about $10.00 and be
suitable for men and women of all ages. Only one is a quilter, so I won't be...

Don't do as I did! by
Patti
This could be said to be in the nature of a public service
announcement!!
I am making a baby quilt for a friend.
We agreed on an interesting pattern.
I prefer Foundation paper piecing. So, I decided to do it as such. I
agreed bright colours with ' Mum'.
Even when you think you think you have...

OT exercise? anyone? by
Polly Esther[_5_]
I keep my blood pressure down ten points by exercise. I keep it down 60
more points by not going back to work ever again. Since most of you can't
retire just to lower your blood pressure, I was wondering what sort/form (if
any) exercise you do regularly 'just for you'.
We call it jogging...

what goes with batik? by
Polly Esther[_5_]
I'm thinking I'd enjoy playing with something different and have never
wandered very far into the batik world. What do you think goes well with
batik? Batiks have such life and motion that I'd guess they must be paired
with a quiet contrast.
Repro's? naaah. Inappropriate. Fairy Frost? no. ...

OT completely OT! question about ipod shuffles by

I have so far steered clear of this technology but I am
thinking of getting something to allow me to carry music

hoping someone here might have one or could point me in the

Quilting machines by

I have no way on earth to ever buy one, but I'm curious: Do any of you
have an HQ 16 or other mid arm quilters and if so what do you think of
them?
I can dream.... I think. LOL.

label for Redlake quilts for Dreamweaver by
Susan Laity Price
I have finally finished the quilts promised to Dreamweaver for her
Redlake project. What type of label did others use? I have emailed
Dreamweaver but have not received an answer. My goal is to have these
in the mail this week. She said that she had space to store them until
her health improves...

Organising books by
Patti
I've been thinking about this for some time; and, seeing Val's post this
morning, reminded me to post about it.
*How* do you store your P&Q books?
I have tried a few methods, but I always end up looking for one by
having to go all way along two shelves looking for it.
The exception to this is...

I've been carrying on my usual quilter's ADD style. In the last couple
days, I have pieced two small wallhangings from kits I bought on sale.
I've also been playing with some pineapple blocks that seem to take a
looooooong time to make. I have no idea how long I'll be able to stick with
this...

I just spent the entire 3-day weekend pin basting a batik quilt. My fingers
at the moment look like raw meat. I had to go buy more pins twice---
finished up that pinning just a few minutes ago. Took the sandwhich off the
table and, despite all the smoothing and clamping I did as I went along,...

Finished -- whew! by
Sandy
I don't plan ever to make another quilt with this technique. :S I loved
the pattern, but I didn't like making it, and I detest what happens to
it when it's washed! Here's the background: I took a class from Joan
Shay (Petal Play person) at camp in 2006. She's a real kick -- lots of
fun -- and...

Cost of Machine Quilting? by
SewVeryCreative
Does anyone know roughly how much it costs to send out a quilt (in this case
one lap size, 58x68 finished) for machine quilting? I'm REALLY pressed for
time this year (aren't we all?! LOL!) and I have a few quilts that will need
to be MQed ...
I figure part of the cost depends on the complexity of...

Kate G.[_2_]
How do you (assuming you do!) label your quilts?
Do you only label quilts you are giving away?
Do you label every quilt you make?
Do you hand write something on a piece of fabric?
Embroider by hand or machine your text?
Print it on fabric using your computer?
Do you fuse it on? Do you...

A "Your Pick" top done by
Michelle C.
Some of you may remember Terbear's "Your Pick" swaps. My mother, who is
not much into computers, but loves quilting joined us for one of those
swaps. She's getting ready to sandwich the top she made from the swap
and I took the opportunity to snap a picture. If you'd like to look,
here's the...
