OT - How to feel embarassed in one easy lesson by
Sharon Harper
Don't thread your machine properly and then take it to the shop to be
repaired. Yup. Mine stopped working last night with a couple of clanks and
much jamming of thread and no bobbin turning.
Got there this afternoon and she unthreaded, rethreaded and Jammin' Janome
goes like the proverbial bat...

OT - Brownie Storage by
Sharon Harper
If (Heaven Forbid!) you don't finish all your brownies the day you make
them, is it preferable to store them in an airtight container in the fridge
or just in a cool place (eg pantry)? Is there an etiquette to brownies?
Curious minds.....

I think I lost my mind somewhere... by
Kate Dicey
I left the gas on again after making my porridge for breakfast...
I abandoned a cup of coffee in the M/W after it needed re-heating
because I forgot about it...
I found a cup of tea with a beard in the sewing room yesterday...
Do I dare sew? DH has doubts about leaving me on my own today (but...

Got stripes? by
frood
I've got a bird in my head, trying to get out! This bird wants to be made of
blue/black checks (which I have) and red/black striped legs. I thought for
sure I had some red/black striped fabric, but alas! I do not!
If anyone has some, I'd love to work a trade. The bird only needs about a 6"
square,...

Practically on-time Happy Dance! by
hfw
Finished the quilt hours before the wedding, and should be able to deliver
it to them within the week. This is good!! Couldn't get a picture of it all
spread out, which is just as well, because I like it scrunched up much
better (and it is a lap quilt, after all). Were I to do it over again,...

Celtic Knotwork Quilt Done!!! by
Melissa in NJ
Totally coincidentally to all the Celtic Knotwork Block posts that have been
on here I have been working on one of my own for sometime. I just finished
it for delivery this Sunday just passed. It is a gift to my parents for
their 40th wedding anniversary. It was a super fun quilt to do and I am...

Is this common? by
Linda Sweigart
A couple weeks ago I made a baby quilt for a good friend, for him to send as
his gift to his first great-grandchild. I shared a couple drinks with him on
Saturday and he told me that his granddaughter and her husband immediately
said that, since it was hand made, they had no intention of actually...

Invisible thread (again - sorry) by
muse9
I am still new at quilting and have not yet tried out any invisible threads.
There are so many different colors in the two I Spy quilts I'm making that I
think this might be the best thread to use for machine quilting them. I
bought a spool of Sulky polyester monofilament invisible thread. The...

OT - Sad news by
Natalie
My friend died this weekend. He was also my supervisor. It was sudden,
unexpected, and a mistake. He was to be 27 next month. Flying home,
overseas, to see family this Thanksgiving.
He taught me to write in the active voice. I forget a lot, but I know
understand its importance.
We laughed...

Advice on sewing machine-CP by
PFJ
Hello All,
I've been lurking around here and have appreciated the camaderie and
helpfulness of this place. It also doesn't hurt to be in a place where
people describe fabric as delicious - I don't feel quite so mad.
Now, if you all don't mind, I need your collective help on a good
sewing/quilting...

Progress on the Nightmare Quilt by
Sharon Harper
Many of y'all have heard me tell of DH's Nightmare Quilt. Yup my First Big
Quilt (third one ever). He chose it and it is FULL of curves. He chose the
fabric (a variety of quality but nice colours). He keeps encouraging
(read - nagging). And I keep saying how much I hate it (and I do) as it...

Hi all,
just a note to let you all know that I am in fact still in the land of the

did the kids) and food poisoning (bad precooked chicken burgers that I will
