Bluehowler
Hi,
I'm looking for a supplier of hourglasses, just the glass though, not

Thanks,
sue.

sandblasting resist by
Jackie L. Preston
Does anyone know of a resist that can be run through an injet or laser
printer. I have cut vinyl resist into sheets and run through my injet
printer and the design transfers fine but never dries so smudges easily when
trying to cut. I am concerned about the heat of a laser jet causing...

Waaaaah! :-( by
suzilem
I just had my first chunk-o-glass fracture in my kiln. :-( I was slumping
a 3.5"x3.5" shallow dish and it cracked right down the middle and flung its
two halves to opposite sides of my kiln (granted, since the cavity is only
8"x8" they didn't fling far). What's REALLY annoying is this...

Moravian star assembly by
Wayne E. Pfeffer
There is another way to make the star. Instead of using triangles for
the points, use 4 sided polygons. You will end up with a star where the
center isn't hollow, but I've found that they are easier to put
together. The point of the polygon that goes in the center of the star
should 90 degrees,...

Water-filled globes by
Steve Kraus
A friend has a very old knick knack consisting of a water filled globe
holding some imitation roses made of a waxy material. "Ball-O-Beauty"
it was called. She opened it to make some minor repairs to the roses
which had fallen from the stems. Before sealing it back up she was
wondering what, if...

Phoenix area glass stores? by

Can someone recommend a glass retailer in the Phoenix, AZ area?
I recently moved to Tucson and am having a problem finding glass that
I like for some windows I'm making. There are a couple of good places
here but I can't seem to find the glass I want. Thought maybe there

Champagne: glass or crystal? by
Bertje
why is it that wine-'experts' rather drink champagne from a crystal than
from a plain glass (with the same shape)?
Is it because
- crystal shows the colour of the champagne better
- crystal gives more bubbles
- crystal gives a better 'ring' whit the toast
Maybe more than one of these criteria is...

lamp shade fringe question by
C Ryman
Hi,
Here's a question for the lamp makers out there. Exactly where is the
beaded fringe suppose to be glued to the lamp shade. The fabric edge looks
a bit large (checked out the fabric store today) for just the solder on the
edge. Do people glue it to the glass? Seem like that would cause a...

Is there any reason why I shouldn't be able to wet grind the top opening of

Door Insert Strength by
Harold E. Keeney \(Hal\)
Have an existing door at a sea shore cottage. The
owner wants an insert, (21" x 35") on the inside.
As this involves grandkids running in and out with
the usual "slam", what kind of strength would be
needed for this kind of use?
My thinking at present is to use copper foil with
copper-plated...

Painting on glass - BIG problem! by
Martin
I'm trying to find a tecnique of glass painting (on beerglasses) that
will stand up to the rigors of being handled. The first attempt was
done using solvent- based glass paint. All seemed ok to start with,
but after a while the paint began literally sliding off the glass as
it was handled. Maybe...
