First time grandmother by
Steve & Paulette Lashley
I normally lurk and read all the wonderful things this group shares. I have
experienced very pleasant fabric swaps, was able to complete my appliqué
chicken thanks to a member, and corresponded with a few of you. I am coming
out of lurkdom for a brief bit of news. I am pleased to announce that...

Funky Chicken Quilt Top by
Pat in Virginia
Woo Hoo! Yesterday I finished piecing a wild quilt top. The
working title is Funky Chicken. This has several chicken prints
from the "Fowl Play" line that was popular a few years back.
Black, white, yellow, red. BTW, this is for the guild challenge:

Picket Fence help needed by
Roberta Zollner
Directions say to cut strips 2 3/4" X 5". Place a light strip on a dark
strip, right sides together, at a right angle, and aligning the corners.
Draw a diagonal line across the corner, sew on the line, and trim to 1/4"
seam. (Looks just like joining strips on the bias for binding.) Make 240...

I didn't read this, so I have sketchy info here.... While in a waiting room
today H was reading the current copy of People magazine and discovered that
Arnold Schwarzenegger made his wife (with help) a memory quilt for her BD or
anniversary or something. H says it said that A went to many quilt...

I will be posting the Simply Quilts program list ahead of schedule this
month since we will be on vacation for the rest of the week. I assume that
those who will not be watching the Law and Order marathon on Monday may want
to see what Simply Quilts show will air, so I want to accomodate those...

paper piecing questions by
Elizabeth Young
Hi, the new Liz again!
I have been cruising websites (what a lot of quilt stuff there is out
there!) and keep coming across 'paper piecing'. I understand how this
works, but have some questions.
#1 Wouldn't sewing through paper dull the needle really fast?
#2 How do you keep the pieces of fabric...

hung up, with the next one sitting in the machine ready to go.
I have decided that...

Hi gang, I was just cleaning out the closet with sheets and throwing away
some newer sheets that I no longer have bed for them to fit. I have heard

Can you use them for quilts that are to be used for wall hangings? ...

OK, Here's MY Life Story as it Applies to Quilting... by
[email protected]
Once upon a time, in a small village some distance from here, a girl
child was born. As she grew up, her parents, although far from
illiterate, kept certain family legends alive in the time-honored oral
tradition. One of these stories
dealt with Great-Great Grandmother's Quilt, and it's...
