Sewing box is complete! by Valkyrie
The sewing kits are assembled, wrapped, ribboned and ready for Christmas Eve. I found boxes of assorted spools of thread, just a bit smaller than a regular small spool. They were at the Big Lots store. Nice assortments with twelve spools in each box, a "light", has white and a "dark", has black....

Sewing Kit update by Valkyrie
The sewing kits were a HUGE success! One of the big problems with giving these guys gifts is that they all have great jobs and pretty much just buy what they want when they want it so coming up with something “priceless” is always a problem. We had good laughs about the choice of lunchboxes,...

Recovering glider rocker chair pads by [email protected]
I need to recover some chair pads in a glider rocker and need to know the best way to go about doing this. I'd like to do it myself in order to save some money but I don't know how to sew. Is there a simple sewing method I could use or should I just rely on taking it to an alterations...

Recovering chair pads on a glider rocker by almostcrafty
I need to recover some chair pads on a glider rocker. I do not know how to sew and was wondering if there was an easy-sew way to do this or some other method I could use? I hesitate to take it to someone to have it done because I desperately need to save some money. All opinions and advice are...

charity projects by jes
My 8 yr. old granddaughter is beginning sewing. A couple of good projects for her: 1. Pet blankets for the SPCA to give to animals. They get to keep the blanket & take it to their new home, if adopted. 2. Dress stuffed animals for the highway patrol or police to give to distressed children. As...

Silk PJ's by melinda
Has anyone ever made them? What would be the best sort of silk to use? How difficult is it to work with silk? Had a random thought/idea to make DH some silk PJ's and was wondering if it was a 'Good Idea' or not. -- Melinda http://cust.idl.com.au/athol

1 Attachment(s) Mystery curtains by Doug Kanter
My back door has a window, and I need the type of curtain which has a small rod at top and bottom, and is pulled tight between the two. I've gone into several stores (in the U.S.) looking for them, and unfortunately, teenage stupidity has invaded fabric and window treatment departments. The...

Where can I get a custom sewing pattern? by Inside
Hi there, I am a cosplayer (dressing up as your favourite character, I guess, it could be summed up as) and so far all of my cosplays have been just put together from regular, everyday clothing. However, lately I've had my eye on cosplaying as a red mage from FFXI and it doesn't look like I'll be...
