Darn Darn Darn (I'm Being Polite) by
joan8904 in Bellevue Nebraska
So I'm making a baby quilt, using a pattern I'd used before and left
over fabric. As I put the first block together, I had two of the
pieces reversed. No big deal, methinks. Same size, just different.
After making 8 or so blocks, I look down at them nicely arranged on
the floor to see eight...

Peel a banana from the bottom and you won't have to pick the little
'stringy things' off of it. That's how the primates do it

Too beautiful to cut by
Polly Esther
You've talked here before about fabric you just could not cut. I believed
you but hadn't come across one myself. Well, somehow it happened to me.
It's a magnificent deep sea scene with very real turtles and bright fish.
Oh my. So pretty. I couldn't bear to even fussy cut.

fabric amounts for quilts by
Taria
So I come across a neat quilt in Fons and Porter's magazine (sept./oct.
2008) It is called Mariner's in a Pickle.
It could work for what I want to do. Under the materials list is 2-3/4 yds
of 17 prints. 2 yds. for binding and
14 yards for backing. That comes to a whopping 62-3/4 yards. My...

tension problem by
Shona in NZ
Howdy all,
DH, who insisted using a sewing machine was a "pink" job is having to learn
how to sew for work (Bwaaaahhaaaaa). He rang me in absolute frustration
yesterday because he could not get the tension on the work machine to work
properly.
Since I haven't a clue about tension (never had to...

Pfaff Grand Quilter and Inspira Frame by
ALZ
Test drove this today because the Pfaff Truck event was at the local
dealer. I was totally impressed by it. They have a one day special for
$2,599 for the two together. Unfortunately, I can't buy it now, but it
may be in the future. Does anyone have either of these to comment on.
I already have...

Please save me some hours by
Polly Esther[_5_]
I need to recommend to a friend which lovely white cotton is the very best
for printing photographs. It's not something I've done in a long while and
I only remember that it was Kona or Kona Bay. It was a smooth, finely woven
perfect surface. Anyone remember? I'm sure I've written it down...

To wash or not to wash by
Nada
Help! I'm a little confused. I've heard people say they pre wash their
fabrics and others say they don't bother. I know it's probably best to
because of shrinkage and dye running, but do you really have to wash
everything i.e. scraps, squares, etc. or is it just large pieces?
Thanks in...

Electric Quilt 6? Worth it?? by
Connie[_2_]
I feel like a total dunce asking this - but does anyone here have EQ6 -
and if so, do they like it? Is it easy to learn/use? Do the "advanced
pattern design" features work as well as the web site says they do?
Also, I've heard that EQ is raster based (using pixels) while Illy (my
drawing app of...

How many projects are you working on - now? by

I've wondered if I have a problem. When I stop to think of all the
quilting projects I am currently working on - some more than others.
I'm working on "Over the River and Through the Woods", a batik quilt,
my everlastingly large handquilting project, a machine quilting
project, a quilt for my...
