OT Expensive QI by
Kate T.
My QI Miss Lucy is costing me several hundred dollars today. I have
to buy a new mattress.
Yesterday I spent the morning cleaning my bedroom, you know the usual
fall cleaning, changing draperies, washing windows, etc.
I changed the bed linens, folded up my Hug quilt and laid it on the
foot of the...

4 needles in an hour.... by
Johanna Gibson
What am I doing wrong? I've broken 4 needles in the last hour.
These were size 80 Schmetz needles too! I'm sewing a polycotton duvet
cover, with polycotton thread, and the project is eating needles like
there is no tomorrow. I've had enough. Even reading contract law is
better than...

Finishing UFO and/or Choosing Project (LONG) by
Pat in Virginia
In my HD thread, someone (She maybe) asked about how my guild's
UFO challenge works. In the Stuck thread, several posters ask
about how to choose a project and move on. I think a description
of the UFO challenge will answer that issue. Here goes.
The Organizers (L&N) set the 'rules' as follows....

Really, really miniature quilts? by
Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
Maybe this gentleman could be convinced to teach a seminar in
mini-quilts?
http://www.snopes.com/photos/arts/microscopic.asp
Wouldn't that be something??? Now, I could *almost* envision Pat on
her hill working in this size.... (VBEG)

Very OT - question for my fellow Aussies by
CATS
The "Do Not Call" Register opened today. Supposedly you can
register online to exclude your phone number from all those
annoying telemarketing lists.
Yippee!!
Of course (and most unfortunately) the DNC will not apply to
charities/educational facilities(?)/political candidates -
but it's a...

Best Tip or Hint by
jennellh
I guess that this means either well-used or newly acquired helpful
hint that you might have found useful in your quilty life!
I was reading a page of hints on one of the bunnyhop pages recently -
this hint stood out! I have always had a problem with threads
strangling the vacuum beater bar - the...

Therapy and the bereavement classes are helping me a great deal. I
will always miss my beloved Terry (and I miss him deeply) and carry
sadness with me, but I’m starting to think about my future and new
beginnings. My DS, Hunter is a great young man with an old soul like
his dad and I. I have a...

Scrap Question by
Not A Clue!!
Why can't I make a scrap quilt with all my bits and pieces without using a
pattern? I have searched the net far and wide and according to all I see and
read I must use a pattern even to make something with scraps of fabrics? I
guess what I want to know is, how would I sew together all odd sizes...

OT - Oatmeal for baths by
frood
Poor little Giles is covered in hives. She is itchy all over. I know oatmeal
baths are soothing, and I can buy some Aveeno bath stuff, but I have oats in
my cupboard right now and was wondering if I could use those? Do I need to
put them in a muslin bag? Would a paper coffee filter work if I staple...

My lovely little not-quite-10-year-old niece is just about ready for her first
sewing machine. She was here this past weekend and sewed with me. She has
great motor skills and is very intuitive about how things work and connecting
concepts. Her great aunt has offered to foot the bill if I will...

Back from the Fair -- OT by
Joan8904
Fair went very well. I entered 7 quilts and got 4 ribbons. Mom and I had a
joint quilt that won a blue!
Finished packing up Mom's house and got her moved to Paducah. All of this
between Wednesday and Sunday. I feel like balloon with the air let out, but
happy that things went as well as they...
