How do you decide which thread to use. Is the 100% cotton better? Cotton/polyester blend? 100% polyester? And what makes one better than the other? Trixie

We were having lunch the other day, and when I looked for something for the baby to draw on, I grabbed the paper placemat....but then stopped myself, when I saw the feathered wreath in the center of the placement....the entire placemat had a quilting like look to it...Has anyone else ever noticed...
