Looking for a gold/silver foundry good a thin things by
Paul Wilson
Hello,
I've managed to create quite a few cast waxes of leaves and maple seed pods
that are just as thin as the actual botanical specimen.
So far, unfortunately, I've been able to do nothing more than admire my work
as the commercial lost wax foundries I've been working with can't make gold
or...

moderators note by
Peter W.. Rowe,
Hi all
I'm currently at the SNAG convention in Chigaco. Lots of energy and creativity from
lots of jewelers. But poor connectivity, for my needs as moderator, to the news
servers. So group moderation may be, at best, intermittant until I get back on Sunday.
Sorry 'bout that.
If any of you are...

how to fix a necklace with a spuno clasp. by
Joe Arcticacre
I'm hoping you all can help me. I have an old necklace, gold chain,
slightly worn from years of dancing, and attached to many of the links
are small ceramic animals. Not your typical horses or elephants, but
exotic ones like tasmanian tigers or Ibis or nothern grizzly. It is
amazing the detail, a...

What is gilding wire? by
C Ryman
Hi,
I was skimming through a jewelry making book today at Borders and it
mentioned using gilding wire (spelling?) with twisted silver wire. I
haven't heard of this before and don't think I've seen it listed in any
catalog. Maybe it has another name?
Thanks,
Connie Ryman

Oxidising and Stones by
Charlie
I'd like to oxidise a bracelet in liver of sulphur, but it had rose quartz
included in the design. Will the solution destroy the stones? What about
others? Are any safe to be treated in this way?
Charlie.
