Coin mounts? by
Todd Rich
The lady that taught me enamelling is having a hard time finding coin
mounts. She used to get them through Swest, but since Stuller bought
them, she hasn't found a good source for them. She is looking for 1",
and 1 1/2" coin mounts. Any suggestions for a good source for them?

2. Can enameling be done by any jeweller?
3. Is enameled jewellery durable enough for everyday wear?
4. Are there special ways of cleaning such jewellery?
I know next to nothing about...

friction by
m4816k
Sometime ago I had a 14K gold chain, and I've put an 18K gold pendant on it.
It wasn't long before the chain started breaking (frequently). A few days
ago I've read one online article which stated that wearing pendants on
chains of another caratage (than the one of pendants) causes friction...

Chain Style identification. by
not very clever
I have a few gold coloured chains which seem to be made up of 2 rows of
triangular plates, giving a flat chain like a herringbone but with a pattern
a bit like an elongated \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/.
Can anyone give a (real!) name to this design, or maybe there is a website
you could recommend so...

How does a nick on a stone affect its value? by
[email protected]
Hi - I am trying to buy a sapphire ring from a seller, and the seller
informed me, after we reached a sales price, that there was a small
nick on the center sapphire (the center sapphire is a 3 carat yellow
sapphire). Should this affect the value? She claims that it should
not. Any advice would be...

I have about a dozen pale yellow faceted gems that are supposed to be
labradorite. But when I look up labradorite on the internet, it shows
something completely different.
Any idea what I might have?
Any idea if it has any value?
I also have about 20 pounds of uncut "labradorite" that looks like...

Enamelling kilns seem to appear fairly regularly on eBay. One went last
week
for about £100 I think. I'm not too sure about the final price.

refine peach sap by

I have an orchard and have been harvesting peach sap from the base of
old trees. Some chunks are perfect "drops", others are contaminated
with other organic material.
I've tried to refine this "amber" by boiling in water, but it will not
disolve the sap, I've also tried alcohol, with even less...
