Gold Ingot Problems. by
[email protected]
Greetings Group!
Okay gold experts, I've got a question for you. I've been doing a
great deal of refining lately, and I am thinking that it might very
well be worth my while to sell my refined gold on Ebay, but to do that
I have to have a saleable product - and that means that beauty is the
key. ...

Question by
Crea
Hello, I'm new to this group. I was just poking through some old
jewelry tools and stuff of my Dad's, and came across several packets of
"United States Bronze Powder Works, Inc. #801 Light Gold Burnish - One
Ounce." Would anyone happen to know what this may have been used for?
Also, would anyone...

Contenti web site? by
Peter W.. Rowe,
After Abrasha posted a link to Contenti's web site, for LOS if I recall, I
clicked his link just to verify it, and was surprised to find the site
unavailable, at least to me, with firefox unable to find the server. An email
to them got a reply that as far as they know, their site is up and...

Question on sales by
Dave
A friend of mine was asking about buying jewelry online. During the
discussion of pros/cons, he mentioned that he had read in a forum
about something to do with the "ability to have your ring tested every
year" for things like settings, and how it might be hard to find
someone local who would work...

What welder? by
Gary Wooding
I'm considering buying a pulse arc welder and have seen ads for two: the
Lampert PUK2 and the ABI Tack II. I've tried the PUK2 at a tool dealers
here in the UK, and it seemed to work OK, giving results similar in some
respects to a laser welder. I've read various articles where a Tack II
was...

help with needle files for wire by
sunniebgi
I hope I'm in the right place.
I was given a set of small files called BeadSmith Needle Files. Told they
are used for filing the rough edges of wire (and I'm sure other things but
this is what I want to use them for.) Problem is they came with no
information as to what each of the 12...

I hope that all of you who celebrate Christmas or another holiday at this time of year,

Foredom handpiece mystery by
rockhound
I bought a box of assorted burrs at a garage sale. There were two Foredom
handpieces in the box, one of witch I have not been able to find anything
about on the web. The mystery handpiece was in an original Foredom plastic
sleeve labeled "HANDPIECE NO. 7". As far as i can tell there is not a...

Sand Blaster by
[email protected]
We have just installed a sand blaster in our Jewelry Class. The
instructions clearly state not to reuse the "sand". I understood that
it could be used again. We are using beads at the moment.
Is there any situation when we can or can not reuse the abrasives?
Thank you for any help.

Plating oops on a watch by
Carl
The watch is a cheap, 'fashion' item. It seems to be plated with the
warm-grey-white plating often found on the really crappy knock-offs, the
ones with the mold marks still visible on the band links.
The customer broke the crystal.
I gutted the watch and removed all the broken glass I could then...

What's with this new platinum? by
Frosty
I had to finish, size and set a platinum ring alloyed with cobalt.
I really don't like the color or the way it works.
And the damned crap is magnetic fer Pete's sake!
Who thinks these things up? Stuller?
Jeez!
