Seeking Jeweler for project and information. by
Nomen Nescio
I am looking for a jeweler who can assist with the completion
of a small project of personal significance.
I have an old ring that has extreme sentimental value to me
and it is missing the stone. I know what was once there, but
I wish to have it replaced with something different.
There is an...

Just subscribed to it and hope to see some old faces here. I was bit
out of touch with online groups for a year or so and i guess i have
some more time to devote reading about current gemstone related topics.

Gold prices by
Lawrence
Hi.
Just wondering...Do jewelers get gold at some kind of discount, if so - how
much of a discount?
or do they pay market rates per ounce as stated on the daily exchange rates?

Re depletion gilding by
Ben Smith
I want to enrich the colour of some standard 9ct yellow gold sheet which is
to be applied to a silver item. Un-treated the gold is pale yellow and
doesn't contrast enough with the silver.
I have managed to darken the metal a bit, but not enough.
Questions:

in a crucible with a propane torch. Then, I got some cupels to smelt
that ash. I do get gold out of it, but I also get a greenish-black
glassy substance...
