best fiber/yarn for a man's scarf? by
Mystified One
I have a friend with COPD who could probably use a good winter scarf. What
fiber or brand would you reccommend? I'd like this to be really special.

Noreen! by
Katherine
I clicked on your link yesterday, and my computer crashed. (No connection,
just the company doing upgrades!) However, I didn't get to see your FO.
Could you post it again, please?
Higs,
Katherine

Gansey sleeves by
Wooly
Say Aaron, are you planning a classic 7/8 sleeve length for your
gansey? I got my first sleeve finished early, though I need to rip
the cuff back to the "fast decreases" round and adjust up my stitch
count just a bit for a good fit. I did make a 7/8 sleeve, so the
(short) ribbing lands about 1"...

acrlic yarn by
Dixie Sugar
Hi guys,
Am I the only one who uses acrylic yarn? Seems wool yarn is always
mentioned in posts. I use acrylic because wool makes me itch, it's cheaper,
and it is more readily available in my area. What don't I know about which
yarn to use?

OT and a 'little' ON-t... by
YarnWright
OT (off topic)
Been really busy, showing the house a LOT, and it looks like the first
couple, who are very very young, are approved for an FHA loan.
Don't know how long it'll all take, so DH and I are thinking we might get
stuck in a one bedroom apt. temporarily.... which isn't TOO bad due to all...

A couple of FOs by
JCT
I finished the sage cotton top that I made for my sister.
She saw the one I made for myself and wanted one. I couldn't find the
same cotton/linen blend I used for that but found a cotton in
approximately the same color and weight. It is packed and ready to
send. She should get it about the time...

Our Knit-Out by
Shillelagh
My knitting group held their annual Knit-Out yesterday in the city of
Winnipeg, at the historic Forks.

My granddaughter came along and worked on her knit stitch scarf. The day
started out cloudy with a few sprinkles of rain, but pretty much...

Stash enabling coming up by
Shillelagh
Elann has 100% silk worsted weight yarn on their site today. It looks
yummy. Note the link I'm sending will show the prices in Canadian dollars.
They can and will price in American if you want. I'm really tempted.

Preconceptions by
Wooly
Grrrr.
At "Back to School" day Thursday my son's teacher said (in front of
about half of the third grade parents) something like "And we're sure
is going to _dress up_ and demonstrate all her quaint
spinning and knitting skills this year at our Prairie Days
re-enactment."
This of course focused...

Sunday morning by
Wooly
On topic
The LYS that asked me early in the summer if I'd be willing to teach
some spinning classes has finally gotten around to asking me about
scheduling. We agreed yesterday that after Labor Day will be a good
time to start but that leaves me with little time to actually build my
presentations...

Combining knitting with crocheting by
Padishar Creel
On a future project, I am considering knitting a bedspread afghan with
seed stitch and slipping the first stitch on each row in order to have
a nice tight stitch to do a crocheted border around the entire afghan.
Has anyone seen a pattern something like this that combines crochet
with knitting?
I...
