I had to finish. It only took me 9 hours!!
I started on the hand quilting this evening. I used to do a lot of
embroidery so the hand quilting...

New quilt layout, quilting classes, new pictures by
Ann
Remember my dilemna last month on my colour choice for my quilt layout? I
had laid the blocks out and re-arranged and looked at it for a couple of
days and it still didn't do a thing for me. Well I got rid of the green and
brown blocks and replaced them with burgundy blocks and different...

Hollow Cubes...more on my class by
Ann
Thanks for checking out my latest pics and your kind comments on my hollow
cube project. Was a great class this weekend
The hollow cubes are made the same principal as tumbling blocks. But the
instructor gave us instructions on construction without using those nasty
"Y" seams. Straight sewing...

pieced backing by
Ann
I had a quilt top I had started last year. I pulled it out this weekend and
decided to make it a bit bigger, I think it's big enough now. By adding
more to the quilt top I have run a little short of the 2 colours in the top
(pink and burgundy) so I'll have to scrimt on my borders a bit.
The have...

size fo batting question by
Ann
I have a batting question
I bought some warm and natural batting off the bolt. I did a quick
measurement of it's width.....94"
My quilt top is 93" square. I cut the length of batting a couple inches
excess top and bottom each
I laid out the quilt top with batting on top for a quick trial run. I...

motifs my way by
Ann
Well I finally have my quilt pinned, ready for machine quilting.
I'm going to use a simple daisy motif and meander them on. I was seeing
what I had for fabric markers so I would could perhaps get some daisies on
so I would be ready to go. Was testing them on scraps and the lines just
aren't...

Help needed identifying machine attachments by
Ann
I acquired my Mom's sewing machine after she passed away, which is a Singer,
model 9117. It's pretty uptown for me as I love my trusty ole basic
machine. Mom's sewing machine hasn't turned a bobbin in over 2 years
Partly cuz I just haven't had the heart to try it out, but it's time now
It has...

Making HST by
Ann
When making HST, can you do it by sewing the 2 strips together, seam down
both sides.....then using your ruler cut on the 45 degree angle, flip ruler,
cut 45 degree again, all the way on your strip??
If you needed 2" hst block would you cut your strips 2 1/4"?
Thanks
Ann

need advice on a table runner by
Ann
Ever since Merry shared her lovely table runners, I would like to to try my
hand too. Friends of DS are getting married next month and I thought a
runner would make a nice wedding gift. I can design the top, but I have a
few questions:
What's a nice size? width and length. I don't know what...

Determining fiber content by
Ann
I cleaned, sorted and organized my fabric closet today. I have a pile of
material that I'm not sure if it's cotton or poly cotton. Is there any way
to visibly tell the difference? I can tell the good quality cotton just by
the feel of it, but what I'm not sure of would be the not top quality (if...

Drunkard's Path pattern question by
Ann
I went to quilters cache and printed off the Drunkard's Path pattern.
http://www.quilterscache.com/D_F/DrunkardsPathBlock.html
Thought I would play around with the pattern to see if I can get it mastered
and then make a table runner. I didn't need the blocks as big as 6". So
following their...
