OT - Healing Prayers Needed by
Mika
It's things like this that really make me dislike this time of year. Bad
things seem to happen between Thanksgiving and Christmas. DH got a call from
his Dad last night. Dad had some tests done last week and just got the
results. He found out that he has bladder cancer. He's going to have it...

My light burned my face! by
Sunny[_2_]
I finally got an Ott-Lite about a year ago. It sits on top of a shelf
above my sewing machine and shines down on my head.
I'm doing a special project right now and while working on the ironing
board, I pulled the lamp down to shoulder level for some really tight
work. I had it there off and on all...

My answer to webshots by
Michelle C.
Since webshots has becoming annoying, I decided to use a free page
building site in order to display my quilts. The site went together
really easily (I'm sure there is much more that I could do with it, and
expect it to evolve), but at least it works, and as far as I can tell,
the ads are just...

Marking Michelle's quilt top by
Polly Esther[_5_]
Recently, I saw this comment from Michelle
The biggest reason for this is that I have never found a method to
mark the quilt yet and again, don't have the confidence to just wing it
without
marking first.
Please climb in here and tell Michelle what you use to mark a quilting...

OT bad stuff by
Anne Rogers
Well, I met with my pastor, my husband and a friend on Wednesday
morning, apparently all my problems are due to my weak faith and that I
repeat untruths to myself (curious as I rarely talk my self down and
it's never been to do with faith). I am so hurt and there is literally
no one to support...

OT, sort of - stitching problem with Bernina 440QEE by
Carole-Retired and Loving It
I finally decided to get a Bernina 440 QEE. I've never owned a
Bernina. I was happy with the store model. However, I'm having a
!!$#@##!! time with the new one now that I'm home. I haven't even
gotten to the embroidery module or the BSR. I'm just trying to get a
nice, normal, straight stitch. ...

OT - What's on your computer screen when you boot up? by
AliceW in NJ
Around this time of year, I start to search for that perfect Christmas
wallpaper for my PC. Wallpaper is what you see when you boot your PC
up - it is where the icons live, lots of them if your screen is
anything like mine.
But, at the holidays, starting with Halloween, I search hither and...

Kate G.[_3_]
I'm finding myself more and more laid up... and it is too hard to sew...
cuz I can't hold my neck or my head the way I need to... to do it! GRRR
But I can kill time in my recliner... head supported... laptop in my lap.
So what online games do you recommend that will help me kill time?

brand of Fusible Webbing?
I had something I had bought yards and yards of years ago at a Ben Franklin

Have tried a few other things... but have not been happy with them.
I'm ready to start a new project... I am very excited... but will need

Removing smoke smell by
Ginger in CA
I just received a pattern from an auction on eBay. "Just Beachy" by
Karen Stone. Apparently it came from a smoking environment. I am
allergic to cigarette smoke.
Does anyone have any ideas what to do with this pattern so I can use it???
Thanks in advance,
Ginger in CA

Quilt finished...HURRAY! by
Carole-Retired and Loving It
I've finally finished my king-sized string quilt - free-motion quilted
on domestic machine, bound (with hand-stitching on the back, even!),
and photographed as best I could. (Put on your sunglasses before
taking a look.)

OT removing gummy by
Polly Esther[_2_]
The tiny preemie shirts underway here really needed hook and loop
fasteners. Alcohol and silicone would not remove the gummy from the SM
needle so they could be stitched down. Cleaning the needle after every
stitch wasn't exactly progress anyway.
You may remember the expression I learned...

Memory Failure by

For the *Oldies*:
A few years ago, (back when we lived in B'splat) there was an RCTQ'er from
Canada that posted with us---she was 'looking for a Cowboy'.
I can't think of her name.WE kept telling her to "come on down" to one of
our shows/rodeos/etc.

Thimble substitutes? by
jennellh
I am looking for a thimble substitute since I have never been able to
hand sew with one! While stitching down the binding on the yellow
table runner, I managed to puncture a hole through my right index
finger nail - I was using the backside of that nail to push the needle
through the hem and...

why don't you make clothes? by
Anne Rogers
Another thread made me think about this, now I know some of you out
there do make clothes and some of you are converted dressmakers and
others of us have either never made clothes, or made one or two items
and not found it satisfactory, so I was wondering why that was.
Previously, I would have...

bad news by
[email protected]
Sooooo Friday night DH and i went to the Iowa Hawkeyes basketball game
here in Iowa City. It was a damp and rainy night. We were walking to
the bus and cut across the damp grass covered with wet leaves. DH
went down a steepish slope, so I was smart and walked around to a
flatter spot....and fell...

Quilting a large piece....have ?? by

Hi, I've been lurking trying to learn from you and I sure have! New to this
fabulous craft but suspect it's going to get waaaay out of hand. Am already
thinking about room additions to hold everything. Anyway, I'd really like
to tackle something big someday and the biggest obstacle I see to...
