OT Frosting Emergency! Can this frosting be saved? by
frood
I don't know what went wrong, but I think I need to start over again! DS
wants chocolate frosting for his birthday cake (this afternoon!). I got out
my trusty Betty Crocker cookbook and found a recipe for fudge frosting that
sounded wonderful! I followed the instructions: 1/2 c sugar, 1 T corn...

A new machine for Me!!! by
Diana Curtis
After many weeks of fruitless bidding and being out bid on one 99K Singer
after another, one finally decided it had to be mine and I won the auction
on Ebay!!!
The long story short of this is that it will replace the same exact model
that my mother had, which I learned to sew on, that I ruined...

quilting design question by
K. Reece
I'm trying to decide what to do in the borders of a lap quilt I'm making.
It's a stack and slash and I quilted the main body of the quilt with a cross
hatch. It's got a narrow black inner border and the outer border isn't all
that wide and it's made from the same blocks as the body of the quilt. ...

Thank you! Thank you! (Yup, loooooong) by
Cina
Sometimes I feel soooooo guilty about posting a question and then not
being able to followup with everyone properly. I swear, it's like
there's a household signal that's broadcast every time I post a
question on Usenet... "Uh-oh, she has free time! Better make 10 things
happen at once pronto!" But...

Name this pattern by
Hanne Gottliebsen
On what we believe to be a 1940's quilt, the pattern is a variation of
the double wedding ring. In a double wedding ring, each ring overlaps
with 4 others (right?), but in this one each ring overlaps with 6
others.
In then center of each ring is a star, but that might not be in the
pattern...

newbie saying hi by
cozy
I can't remember if I've ever posted or not. I used to quilt, but things
got hectic and I remembered looking at this group before, so I resubbed to
it. I'm hoping that now that my life is a little easier that maybe I'll
start back in thinking about quilting again. Hope to pick up alot...

musical quilt--what if...? by

....you assigned a spectrum of colors to several octaves' worth of
notes, and then made sequences of little quilt squares that would
represent a melody? Got a harmony or descant part? Use half-square

Everyone needs a quick project now and then.... by
Sandy Foster
Last spring I ran across a lovely preprinted panel of spring flowers and
things at a LQS here and couldn't resist buying it, though I haven't
often used preprinted things before. Over the long weekend, with DH away
at a golf tournament, I needed a quick project that wouldn't take much
thinking g,...

A cheap trick by
Polly Esther
I've never given a design board much thought. I've been playing with stars
of many patterns, just toying with the notion of putting them together for a
Christmas tree skirt.
I had a big, thin box that a picture frame was shipped in. I stood the
box in a chair, tossed a piece of nylon fleecy stuff...

Starter or Finisher by
Marcella Tracy Peek
Which to you lean towards in your quilting?
Do you like to start new things, try new fabrics and new patterns and
new technique. Then find that after you've done a bit that is enough
and you are ready to move on to the new adventure.
Or, do you like to take a project from start to finish and...

OT - Gin! by

Here's a question for the group that knows everything. OK, not a question,
exactly, more of a query. I'm looking for some gin to buy for DH for
Christmas. He usually drinks Tangueray, but likes Boodles when he gets the
chance at it. There. That's it. The extent of my gin knowledge. I'd like to

1. I save everything. I have class notes from middle school, high school,
and college. I have the rough drafts for every speech I've given, and for
every term paper, research paper, and book report *ever*.
2. The last time I cleaned out my purse, I found receipts that were 3 years
old (the ones...

Pictures! by

We finally broke down and purchased a digital camera, and last night I took
pictures of one of my quilts. Thanks to some help from Ms. Butterfly, I
experimented with sending them through e-mail, and then this morning, I set
up a Webshots site. What fun! So far, I only have two pictures -- both of...
