OT - Haircut by jennellh
A guy stuck his head into a barber shop and asked, "How long before I can get a haircut"? The barber looked around the shop full of customers and said, "About two hours." The guy left. A few days later, the same guy stuck his head in the door and asked, "How long before I can get a...

Flannel search solved by polly esther
I have been searching for years for a flannel that would not pill, fuzz, warp or ravel unreasonably. I have paid as much as $18 per yard in the quest. Eighteen dollars per yard is way beyond budget for making shelter quilts but I was as serious as could be. Today I tossed a length of flannel...

ideas from Santa Clara Quilt Show by Idahoqltr
I saw a wonderful piece by Talking Quilts (can't find on the web now) called "motto" about how coin collectors are not expected to spend their coins and stamp collectors are not expected to mail their stamps so why do people think I need to sew my fabric into something - I am a fabric collector. I...

I'm trying to get ahold of you to let you know that I DID received the books but your email is being returned to me. We are in the process of selling all of my oldest son's stuff and he is getting ready to move out of the country and we've been a little busy. Thank you again. -- Cindy from MO

surgery, suggestions please and sorry so long by Cats
As one who has BTDT (or most of it anyway) my quick advice is - Do what you HAVE to in the way of cleaning (going into even minor surgery exhausted and stressed is not a good idea) Get a simple handsewing project for your recovery time. Placemats are my favourite for this, or even knitting. ...

Squished! by frood
Last week, I recieved a lovely bundle of Christmas fabrics. They are so cheery! Mostly blues, and they fit in great with my other fabric. Maybe when I get back from Houston, I'll work on one of my Christmas quilts some more. I have several in-progress, but haven't worked on them much lately....

reminder - Holiday luncheon 2006 by Ceridwen
dead line for sign up Oct 21, 2006 It's time to get ready for our Holiday luncheon exchange 2006 that KK in BC started last year. What a success it was and so much fun! We are starting earlier this year to allow for those sending overseas the opportunity to save on postage. I know how costly it...

new pics up by Idahoqltr
My webshots: http://community.webshots.com/user/idahoqltr I posted a few of my favorite quilts from the last 3 quilt shows (Boise, Simi Valley, Santa Clara) I attended in "others quilts". We saw some amazing quilts in Santa Clara; could have spent more time there if the legs would hold up and we...

Ooops, ran out of all-purpose thread by Pauline
I'm afraid your machine, nor your quilt will like the hand quilting thread. It has a coating on it - I'm sure someone here can explain what that is, but you should not use it in your machine - it might make you take it to the sewing machine hospital, which would be much worse than going out...

Ooops, ran out of all-purpose thread by Roberta Zollner
If the label says "glazed" or something like that, best not to use it in the machine. The coating comes off sometimes and gunks up the tension disks. Buy an extra spool while you're there. (Some people have a thread collection almost as big as the fabric stash!) Roberta in D "Just Judy"...
