Quick and Easy? by pat on the green
This is the first 'thread' I have started since the changeover. I am envisaging a scenario (the exact circumstances don't matter at all), when I would dearly love to make small bed quilts for two girls (7 and 4) and a cot quilt for the new baby brother. However, if I do embark on this project, I...

Quilt shows in the US? by Leigh Harris[_3_]
Hi all, Some time in 2011 or 2012 I will have to take 10 weeks long service leave, corresponding with one school term here. I know, dreadful isn't it? :-) Anyway, it occurred to me that this might be an opportunity to do something rather exciting and actually go to one of the big quilt shows in...

OT ? ebooks, nooks, kindles et al by Polly Esther[_5_]
I used to have a sign in my office that said, in part, "We have studied the question and have come up with questions at a higher level." Me too. I imagine I would like to have one of those. But there are so many questions to consider. Such as, if I have a book on mine and want to share...

OT More on the NightMist Saga by NightMist
I am all poked full of holes, have three hospital bracelets, and my back is just killing me from laying about on gurneys and hospital beds. So Wednesday I went and had my bloodwork done, and the ultrasounds, and the chest x-ray. If I have to fast for tests I am by gosh only going to do it...

Pirates o' the South Pacific Swap by frood
Notice this is not marked "OT" because it's not! Arr! Ahoy, Mateys! Relief from the Winter doldrums is at hand! All of you in cold-weather climes are tired of the cold, and everyone else is tired of the complaints about cold. Tends to take the fun out o' slatherin' suntan lotion on the cat, ya...

Agrrrhhhh! My 15-91 is Trashed by M. Wetmore
My 15-91 arrived via UPS last night in three boxes. The seller had said he would ship the machine and the cabinet in separate boxes. Well, I guess he got lazy because he left the machine in the cabinet and put them in a box with nothing in the bottom of the box to support the weight of the sewing...

On the way from/to... by Ellison
Howdy! There's a quilt shop on the way home from the dentist's office; well, there is if I go that way! After bravely enduring yet another tooth filling, don't I deserve a little prize (besides the pencil w/ the funky eraser)? Of course I do! So on the way to the post office to mail my baseball...

Question about low priced SM by Kate T.
I was wondering about the low end (priced) sewing machines I've been seeing on the market lately. Singer and Brother are putting out SM for under $500 that have features like needle up/down and stitches like simulated hand stitching, meandering and stippling. The Brother 8060 I was looking...

OT - Offer accepted! by LN \(remove NOSPAM\)
Ok. So it isn't the condo with the large sewing area, but it's a nice condo (end unit with lots of light). It is in the same complex as Xs new condo (but not too close!). The kids can walk thru the woods on a path to get back and forth as need be. So it is going to be the best situation for all. I...

Wash before or after binding? by BarbQuilts
I have always sewn on both sides of the binding and then washed my quilts to get some puckering. A couple of my quilting friends are washing their quilts before they attach the binding at all. (My fabric and backing are already prewashed, but not the batting.) I am curious what you all...
