Questions about Crazy Quilts by
[email protected]
I've been looking into crazy quilts lately and some things I've read
have confused me...
I read that crazy quilts are constructed by "appliquéing" (sp?) all
the pieces onto a single backing piece and then attaching that to
another backing piece (or did I misunderstand that) without fill...

Sad, sad news by
Sandy E
Howdy!
Brace yourself, because this is really sad.
Donna A (in Idaho) let me know that her husband,
Wayne, passed away this evening (Thursday).
He was suffering from ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,
aka "Lou Gehrig's Disease".

OT; A rainy day project by
John
I thought you might like to see a small project of woodworking that I
conceived of and completed, (as far as the woodworking is concerned,
and not the varnishing), in one rainy day in the shop downstairs. The
genesis of this little table, is the recent moving of a wing back
chair into my sewing...

Need good prayers by
Joanna[_2_]
I'm due sept 4 with this surrogate baby but I don't think he's going to
wait. Which is ok I'm far enough along and everyone is healthy. However
I would really like some prayers for a normal delivery and quick
recovery. I'm worried about baby coming too fast because this is baby #8
and that my...

laundry question by
Allison
Ok, since you folks know EVERYTHING!
Some of my tee shirts have come out of the dryer with little spots on
them. Looks like the effect you'd get if you got a drop of something
oiler on them (butter or corn oil not car oil!). It seems to be those
that are cotton with a bit of synthetic. Any...

My new Flickr account by
Sally Swindells
No noisy adverts, but every time I tried to look at anyone elses
pictures on Webshots I kept getting the pictures overlaid by a link to a
dog picture site. I found this irritating when I wanted to look at
quilts, so to avoid this for others I've changed to Flickr (actually I
set it up ages ago...

OT...baby arrived by
Joanna[_2_]
Well he finally decided to make himself know. Sept 5 @ 4:10pm. Weighed
8lbs 5ozs and was 21 inches long. Labour was very long, longer then any
of my others, 12hrs. Dr suspects that he was face up at first and that
was the issue. After having 7 other kids he said it's unusual to have a
labour...

Now that's PURPLE by
TinaR
I have been wanting a Featherweight for the longest time, and when I
started seeing ones painted other colors, I decided that was exactly
what I wanted for my 50th birthday (which was last year....)
I found someone to restore and paint one for me, and it arrived...

ot we have snow!!! by
Taria
I know for many of you that isn't a big deal but for a
so cal gal. Over 4" so far. This is the most I have seen
here in 19 years. Dogs don't quite get it. One having
fun the other sort of grumbling. What fun, at least it
is for a day.

OT Pecan pie!!! by
Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
I had a special request for a pecan pie for tomorrow. Now, I made ONE pecan
pie many, many years ago (Dear Abby's so-called famous recipe) and it was
pecan syrup in a crust when it finished baking. I'm generally a good cook
and was so unhappy about that failure that I never tried making one...

Sad Day by
Mika
Some day I hope to be out of the brain fog that has settled in my head. I
finished the quilt I was making for my soon-to-be DIL's great grandmother in
time to overnight it to her so that she got it on Christmas Eve. Close call
there. I was going to make my 3 y/o grandson a SuperHero quilt for...

Mucking out, the final voyage by
Polly Esther[_5_]
I've been 10 days clearing the sewing room for the new floors. Proud to
report that it is possible and that I've unearthed lots of good stuff,
passed on treasures that were warmly received and now think maybe it can be
done.
There were two quilts that I'd used (and abused) as sort of...

The Directory and an interesting day by

Thank you all for the kind words about the Directory form. I had hoped to
have it out earlier but Murphy had moved into our guest room this week. As
many of you may remember, my DH suffers from diverticulosis. Well he
thought he was having another attack which started last Thursday. He...

OT - Serious Prayer Request by
TerriLee in WA[_2_]
I know I don't post often, but this is an extreme circumstance.
My oldest DS, John, and his SO, Stephi, have been together almost 7
years. This morning, she packed her things (clothes, jewelery, etc)
and left. She also left my grandchildren, aged 4, 18 mo, and 8 mo,
with their daddy. He's a pretty...

Favorite Hand Needles? by
Dannielle
Ok, so I'm learning applique. So far I like it, but I'm sure I'll
like it better using a good needle instead of a regular sewing
needle. I'm finding it very hard to push the needle through the
fabric!
Tell me what your favorite applique needle is! What about your
favorite piecing needle? And...
