OT postage rates up by
Polly Esther
Just in case you've missed it, I think maybe the postage rates went up this
morning. If you're paying bills or writing your congressman, you'll need a
41¢ stamp. That probably means that our online S.E.X. just went up 5%.
And furthermore, if you want to really impress your friends, you can...

OT - Update: italian composition gone by
Apest[_2_]
Hi Girls,
happy to tell you that the first exam has passed quietly and I hope also
well. It was a composition about lack of communication related to the
increasing solitude of great cities. (sorry I can't explain it better
now, I'm quite tired..)
Also I liked to wrote about a passage from...

What if the recipients aren't used to quilts? by
Louise[_2_]
Sandy asked yesterday if we knew where our Christmas quilts are.
Well, I am wondering about that. I bought some nephew-themed fabric
that jumped off a rack at me at the Waterloo quilt show - it had
Toronto Maple Leafs (an ice hockey team) and also had cute polar bears
playing goaltender. Then I...

Help with fabric for As The Crow Flies by
Paulette in WV
Normally I am not a green person....deep reds and blues with cream are more
my style, but I have fallen in love with the Kansas City Star book As The
Crow Flies. Now I find myself strangely attracted to those solid greens
behind the crows and sunflowers. I have not found a similar shade in my...

A Pieceful QoV Day (long) by
Pat in Virginia
Yesterday three of my quilting friends came to my house
to work on Quilts of Valor projects. It was our first
get together for this. We pooled fabric and ideas and
made one top and a back. A local long arm quilter will
donate her services to quilt it. This quilt has
assorted plaid four...

Prayers for a friend by
Debi Matlack
I got in touch with an old friend, nearly 10 years after we lost touch. I am
so happy to be back in touch with her but also deeply saddened by what she
had to tell me. Her son killed himself three weeks ago, four days after his
birthday. I know how much she loves her kids and can't imagine the...

Binding by
Sherry Starr[_2_]
Should the binding be the same color as the border? I am doing a wall
hanging for my kitchen with coffee pot panels that are done in black and
deep red with some brown. The outer border is black, and the inner border
is the deep red color, and I wondered if the binding should be black, or...

Looking for bits of purple by
Louise[_2_]
With help from a bunch of you, I've figured out about cutting out
templates and about cutting out fabric from templates. Thank you!
Now I'm starting to do some hand piecing of diamonds to make a Penrose
tiling - more thanks to Patti for showing me a picture that inspired
me! I'm going to do it...

Mariner's Compass Foundation Pattern by
Pat in Virginia
If anyone has a currently valid link for a Mariner's
Compass pattern to down load for foundation piecing,
I'd really appreciate it. It could even be a pattern
that is similar to the MC. Anywhere form 12" to 18"
would be great. I only need to make one, so do not want
to buy a complete pattern...

OT - DDs race weekend by
Sharon Harper
We all are headed down/up (can never figure it out) to our country home
track of Bairnsdale for their Open race meet.
Wish the girls luck and think of them on Sunday - that's Saturday your time
for most of you!!! They'll be racing hard against probably 20 other midgets
(7-11 year olds) and are...

Japanese kimono silk by
Johanna Gibson
Hello,
Some of you may know I've been helping out with my friend Keiko's
triplets for nearly a year now. Keiko often has live-in helpers from
Japan who stay for 6 months or so, helping with the day-to-day routine
of living with 3 babies, while I come along in the evenings to help
with the...

Getting off the paper! by
hmharris[_2_]
Geeezzzzzzzz,
Had my first class on paper piecing which I am still working on. Well, it's
time to put the borders on the small wall hanging I made and I can't
remember what she said about getting the paper off!
I'm using my seam ripper to rip the paper but I'm afraid I'm going to
accidentally...

Slipping walking foot by
Sunny
Any suggestions on how I can stop my walking foot from slipping when I
hit an especially bumpy seam? I'm putting the binding on a miniature
butterfly quilt that is very thin. I'm finding it difficult to keep
the walking foot on a good quarter inch seam. Every little bump of a
seam sends it sliding...

EQ6 (or 5) by
Sally Swindells
For anyone like me who is using EQ5 or 6 on 'a wing and a prayer', I
found this last night on the EQ website
http://tinyurl.com/2zuwqm
Its a Mystery Quilt that you draw yourself in EQ, and it really leads
you by the hand. Apparently they did it some years ago, and have updated
it for EQ 5 and...

Dear All,
I have emerged from my self-imposed graduate student hibernation and
have posted pictures of another baby quilt. Completed _before_ the
hibernation began.
The last row of pictures is the new quilt.

lace handkerchiefs by
Brian Christiansen
My parents are in the process of moving, and in going through their
stuff, they found a bunch of women's handkerchiefs (something like
these:
http://shop.ebay.com/lace-handkerchiefs_W0QQ_nkwZlaceQ20handkerchiefs).
Dad asked me to see if I could figure out what to do with them.
I only thought of 3...

OT recipe for diabetic by
Janner
We're going out to a BBQ on the weekend and everyone is taking something
and I need an idea for a pudding suitable for 2 diabetic little boys.
Any ideas, I hate children to be left out when we are all having fun.
Thanks
Janner
