Selling Quilts. by
AlenasMom
I'm thinking of adding quilts (completed ones, not custom ones for now) to
the store. (See link below...)
What is the "going rate" of quilts? I'm just trying to figure out how to
price them, and what I should think of charging for them. DH thinks it's an
awesome idea after seeing the quilt I did...

Marianne Fons talk by
Alice
This morning I attended a show by Marianne Fons on "Why We Quilt". The show
was held at the Shady Maple Banquet Center in Lancaster County, PA. It was
quite informative and mentioned the main reasons why we do what we
do....necessity, therapy, fame and fortune, and a couple others. I thought...

Applique thread by
Alice
In a couple weeks I'll be taking a class from Elizabeth Carlson. She will
be teaching us how to make an Irish Rose quilt with some hand appliqué. In
the list of supplies needed she mentions "thread to match appliqué fabrics".
There are three colors - dark green, red and gold. What kind of...

Big surprise! by
Alice
As I mentioned here last week, I was celebrating a BIG birthday on
Valentine's Day. Saturday night my DH and I set out for a celebration
dinner at a really nice restaurant. But....he actually took me to our
community clubhouse where 40 of our family, best friends and neighbors had
gathered...

Tumbling Blocks by
Alice
I think this has been discussed here before, but I didn't need the info
then. My DDIL wants a Tumbling Block baby quilt in blues for our
expected-in-March grandson. I think a method of piecing without using the
"Y" seam was discussed. Can anyone point me to instructions or a book
detailing...

Big project finished! - See photo by
Alice
This quilt was started as a group project in a beach house in North Carolina
and finished with snowflakes flying here in PA. During the course of
putting the quilt together, I used three machines...a small, new Babylock
Xscape, my old Singer, and then the Quest when it arrived! I couldn't have...

Quest education by
Alice
Well today I had two hours with an instructor from Babylock and we
went over all the questions I had concerning my new Quest. Some
things are just easier when you see them done, instead of reading
about them. I found out that the instructor recommended Schmetz or
Klasse needles. She also...

Paper piecing help by
Alice
I'm trying a paper piecing project for the first time. I won a "Tin Box
Sampler Series" of gorgeous crackle charm fabrics as a door prize. There are
very minimal directions with it to make nine Courthouse Steps blocks. I
figured out the cutting, and construction, but now I have a couple...

Who would have known? by
Alice
A group of five quilting friends got together over the summer to make some
charity baby quilts. One lady is brand new to quilting, so we thought this
was an easy project and would help her learn some basics. Also, it is a
requirement of our Guild to submit at least one quilt a year for...

OT - Walmart Service Surprise by
Alice
Two years ago I purchased an ironing board at Wal-Mart. It was their
"deluxe" model with iron rest which is 48 inches long. Recently I'd been
checking each time I went in there for a new pad and cover. All they ever
had fit a 53 to 55 inch board. Several times I got an "associate" to help...

First time guild member by
Alice
After moving to PA last year, I was looking for a quilting group or guild to
join. The one nearest to me has a limit of 50 members...and wouldn't you
know it...I was #51!! But I'm patient, and was able to join this past week.
At my first meeting (a wonderful Christmas lunch), I won two door...
