"Come, little leaves..." by Sandy E
Come, Little Leaves by George Cooper "Come, little leaves," said the wind one day. "Come over the meadows with me and play; Put on your dresses of red and gold, For summer is gone and the days grow cold Soon as the leaves heard the wind's loud call, Down they came fluttering, one and all;

Christmas shopping, anyone? by Polly Esther[_5_]
I can get this on topic but I'm going to wander off since it's astounding and delightful the hefty range of knowledge here. If you want to save postage and give yourself some nice fabric, Arizona Quilts is holding the Polly Esther 2011 record for stuffing the most in a 'if it fits, it ships'...

OT I need a deployed by Polly Esther[_5_]
Our own near and dear in the military are all back in the states this Christmas season. Praise God. I want someone to send pralines to overseas and it's getting to be time to cook and get them shipped. Do any of you have a deployed kin that would enjoy (and maybe even share) candy from...

OT Gingerbread by NightMist
OK, I find I have more "standard" gingerbread recipes than I thought. It depends on what I have to work with. I suppose I never thought about it, however it seems my household has been paying a LOT more attention to the matter than I ever imagined! I scrounged up my notebooks to dig out my...

My DH has a 2nd surgery this past Tuesday to remove a cancer growth from his leg. Our doctor called at 8:00 last night to let us know he had gotten the lab report and ALL the cancer had been removed! In addition, my lab showed my diabetic numbers are down! So I call our son and he said HIS...

"traditional" Thanksgiving dinner by Susan Laity Price
Several years ago we were hosts to a visiting Chinese student during Thanksgiving. She was familiar with the first Thanksgiving in the colonies. As we were passing food around the Thanksgiving table I explained the symbolism of each dish until I got to the Green Bean Casserole. How does one explain...

The Lost is Found by Donna[_7_]
I found the name tags while looking for something else. I very carefully put them away in one of the drawers in my set of plastic drawers. Now why I put them there and thought they would be easily found I have no idea. There is nothing in that drawer remotely connected to Project Linus or name...

Intro by Rose in CA[_3_]
Hi y'all. I'm back in the fold again after several years away. It is so cozy and wonderful to see so many of the "old" gang here. Way back at the beginning of time I posted as "Anne in CA". After a "rough patch" that included divorce and many new beginnings, I posted again as "Rose in CA". I went...

It must be the season by Bonnie NJ
Feel the need to listen to old friends and this is the place to find many. Tomorrow I'll go to my daughter's for the feast, but today I feel so sad. The baking is done and all day I've been thinking of my son, so many memories and pumpkin pie was always his favorite. I'm sure tomorrow will be...

While you're not looking by Polly Esther[_5_]
Hee, he, heeee. While everybody's really busy, I think I'll just sneak in here and mention that it is nearing time for the telling of the Terrible Christmas jokes. There are folks in our family who sail the Christmas tree up before the GBC has even cooled. We're not in that big a hurry but...

OT Pastry Wars by NightMist
I have seen more of my relatives recently than I have in the last thirty years. After they get past the "My you are looking well!" or, "I thought you were sick!" stage, they have tended to fall back on "What are you doing for the holidays?" This usually comes around to cooking as a safe topic...

Heard from Pati!!!! by Tia Mary
I got an e-mail from Pati today. She said that she had been through a rough patch but is now doing better. She said she is working on the quilts again, too. I told her that if it would make life easier for her, I would come get the quilts and take over. Since I can't work on the quilts...
