How Do You Keep On Going by
joan8904 in Bellevue Nebraska
when you are sick to death of a project?
I'm making a clamshell quilt in taupey fabrics and bored witless! I'm
on the next to last border and doing almost anything to avoid making
more clamshells. I've got to get this done as new (and more
interesting) quilts are calling my name!
How do you do...

how do you learn to embellish? by
Wren
Hi all,
After going to the quilt show yesterday, it reiterated that I want to
raise my creative senses to include embellishments. I've been buying
them over the last couple of months but I haven't used any of them yet
on a project. How did/do you learn to embellish your wall hangings or
quilted...

How do you make the back of the block flat and pretty? by
QuiltShopHopper
I am a beginner, and I have been a beginner for 18 months. I still can't
get the back of my blocks to go flat. What I mean is, I can do a four patch
that now looks great! The points are butted up together nice and on the
back, it's easy to iron because the flaps are all going the correct way...

How do you organize your thread? by
Robin
Guess what I'm doing!
Do you organize your thread by color, by fiber content, by spool size, by purpose, or do you have so many spools that you can organize it all these ways?

How do you quilt? by
Janner
I hand quilt, but I can never seem to find a comfortable chair or position
to do this. How do you do it? Are there any stands that help? I have a
quilt that I want to get finished, but it is just a case of finding
somewhere or a position to sit in. Where do you rest the rest of the quilt,
so...

How do you sew a straight seam? by
MaleQuilter
I'm now working on my sixth quilt project and am still having a
problem sewing a good straight 1/4" seam. Most of my seams are
accurate enough to allow pieces to properly fit but a lot of my seams
(especially long ones) look like a series of minor corrections.
My only lessons and training has...

how do you view groups? by
extremevalues
I was just wondering if there were any better ways to view these groups
than I am currently using. I have been using my mail program, and then
I miss a ton of posts. I switched to google groups, but it seems
rather clunky. How do you all post?

How does everyone store their stash? by
joysjane
Do you sort by color? By sizes (FQ/yards/squares)? By themes?
Currently I am sorting by all - mostly colors. I have a few theme fabrics
that go together set aside. I have different baskets for different size
scraps or squares. And then anything that is 1 yard or more is all put
together. ...

how does one handquilt with rayon??? by
Monique Parreira
Ok, it's been a while since I handquilted but this is a Xmas project so
I'd like to use gold rayon thread. The stuff is so slippery, plus difficult
to get a small enough knot at the end of the thread that will fit through
the quilt surface. Does anyone have any recommendations they've found...

How Early? by
Marcella Tracy Peek
How early do you all start to put out the Holiday Quilts?
Fortunately, all in the household here agree that nothing Christmas goes
up before December 1 as we're still enjoying Thanksgiving. However, how
soon into December came up at dinner.
So, are your holiday quilts out all ready, will they be...

How embarassing.... by
IMS[_6_]
Well, like an idiot I selected 'get ALL headers in selected groups' in
stead of just "NEW HEADERS!"
So please pardon my replies to the two-year old messages! Geesh, how
embarassing.

How far is TOO far? by
Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
First, please check out this link-
www.starforestquilts.com
Pat on her hill sent the link to me. The quilts are fabulous- just
gorgeous, BUT.... how far is too far??? I would be happier with
calling these "quilts" if the scenes in the quilts were of fabric and
appliqued. I would greatly admire...

How fast? by
Kim Dyer
I just discovered that one friend who got married in Australia over the summer
is having a party for their US friends at the end of this month. Another
friend just let me know they're getting married in Colorado next month. I've
got some ideas, but any suggestions as to VERY quick patterns would...

how hot is your Iron? by
John
With all the talk about irons, I was wondering what is the "optimal"
temperature for dry ironing, of cotton fabric. I know that most irons
have settings that indicate cotton, linen, rayon and so on. That can
vary with the iron of course. Once the optimal temperature is
decided, could you use a...

How important?? by

I am a quilter and it is really important to me. I am also a 50 year old
woman who has had severe RA (rheumatoid Arthritis) for 13 years with an
added complication of neurological damage and pain on my right side for the
past 3 years (a side effect of one of my meds.)
I quilt as much as I can...

How is Pami? by

Has anyone heard from Pami? I would like to know how her chemo is going. I
hope she is feeling ok, or at least holding her own. I know it is rough and
one doesn't feel like doing much. Pami, if you are out there I am keeping
you in my daily prayers.

How long and how much -- by
Edna Pearl
I kept track of *some* of the steps of making my last double-bed-size quilt
so I would have an idea of how much it would cost to make a quilt. Since so
many of you were interested in the memorandum of understanding I drafted in
an attempt to let the client know how much a quilt might cost, I...

How long did that take? by
Polly Esther[_5_]
Tonight's profoundidity. I was wandering through an old QNM and sort of
read an article entitled 'How long did that take?', a question that pops up
often along our quilting journey. The writer decided that every quilt we
create has the benefit of every quilt beforehand.
"Yes," I thought,...
