OT Ping Jeanne and Yea! Jeanne by
Polly Esther[_5_]
We have a new computer. Changing is heaps more challenge than I enjoy. BUT
! I needed to change the address showing at rctq. YeeHa. I had printed
Jeanne's directions back in December and had actually put them where I could
find them. SO. I am back and wearing my camoflauge. Oh @#$! ...

OT Ping Lynne in Toranto by
Polly Esther[_5_]
My computer's been strange lately, threatening worse. But, somehow I see
your question about ping. As used here on rctq (not to be confused with the
operation of submarines or producing movies) ping only means 'to the
special attention of'. No chance that it won't be read or responded to by...

I'm back -- and pooped! (a lengthy tome) by
Sandy
I'm home from quilt camp with two begun-but-unfinished projects to keep
me busy for some time. I even had an "adventure"! On the way to
Flagstaff, my car suddenly decided that 5mph on the highway was as much
as could be expected -- and we were on a downslope with semis racing
past us, which...

I hit a quilters jackpot at St. Vincents today by
dealer83
I was doing my weekly visit to my mom in the nursing home (she's 97)
in a town 26 miles from us. Well, anyway, we always take a little
outing and today we went to St. Vincents. OH BOY! I hit the
jackpot. Some quilter must have donated their stash...4 long shelves
full of fabric and half done...

OT thanks for cookies by
Roberta[_3_]
John, I made a half-recipe (still a LOT of cookies) and I'm eating one
right now. Very delicious! I put a walnut half on top, just because I
had some. And I put 3 bags of cookies in the freezer, like money in
the bank.

only one block finished this week by
Susan Laity Price
Only one block was finished this week, Japanese Scrap Quilt #470 in
Maggie Malone's 5,500 Quilt Block Designs. It is very pretty but one
of the more difficult blocks. The sewn block is one of those "should
be seen from a galloping horse" creations. My points are not the best
but the block is...

OT - Baby News by
Jo Gibson
The good news is that Mark and I are expecting our first child in
January, and are planning to get married later on in the spring,
possibly June. We had planned to marry first, but the baby news
surprised us.
The bad news is, the moment I told my manager, she made my life hell at
work, was...

Ping Laurie G in Vallejo by
Pauline[_2_]
Hi Laurie,
Have you had any dealings with the sewing machine dealer in Vallejo? Just
wondering if you have had any experience with him. He sounds like a good
guy, but I don't know anyone that deals with him, so just thought I'd check
with you, since you live in Vallejo -...

Moda Maypole quilt is done...yippee! by
dealer83
I finished up my Moda Maypole quilt and love it. Even though I had
trimmed the batting and backing away too early, it did fine, with no
gaps or pulling in the final quilting. I had asked for suggestions on
how to quilt it and ended up using a combination. Wavy lines in a
diagonal grid for the...

Working with velvet by
Dr. Zachary Smith
With the recent loss of my companion/therapy dog, I'm on quite the
emotional rollercoaster today. DW has gone back to work after a
week's vacation and the house is the emptiest it's ever been, so I'm
trying to keep my mind off things and spirits up any way I can (hence
the bad jokes in other...

The Quartered Binding by

A few of you wanted to see how the divided binding, I described in an
earlier thread, looked on the finished quilt.
Well I finished it just before lunchtime today, took the pictures and
got them onto Flickr. The link is:

Pets Ten Commandments by
KimW
A very dear friend sent this link to me today and I teared up as I read it.
She knows how attached I am to my two remaining kitties. I didn't mark this
OT because our QI's are such a vital part of our quilting environment. If
anyone thinks it should have been marked OT, please forgive me. I hope...

Quilty (or other) things to see and do in Rome? by
[email protected]
I will be going to Rome for a very brief visit in a couple of months.
I will have only limited free time outside a couple of planned
sightseeing tours/visits.
However, do any of you know of anything quilt related to go see or do
or shop while in Rome? It would need to be accessible by...

New quilter question on backing fabric by
dealer83
Hello, I just got done spending too much money on fabric for the back
of my next quilt. My question is, do any of you ever use 100% cotton
sheets for backing? If you got a queen or king size, you wouldn't
have to seam pieces and they can be found on sale pretty cheap
sometimes. Is this a no no...
