selling pots by
darshan
How can one locate good retail stores for pottery?
Some retailers don't display pot correctly
or only take pot on consignment.

HEAT RETENTIVE PLATES IN GOOGLE by
Juan
Hello,
I invite everybody to type "heat retentive plates" in Google to learn
about a ceramic microwaveable heat retentive plate that you preheat for
just one minute, and stays HOT FOR 1/2 HOUR and the rim remains cool
for easy handling.
Regards.

Fire Clay? by
Bill DeWitt
My local brickyard has bags of something called "Fire clay" which they
instruct me to mix with portland cement to make a fire brick. I suspect that
this is wrong (or useful only for fireplaces). My intuition tells me that I
should form it into my shape (I have a special shape in mind) and then...

Hi Anybody
I'm trying to source red clays that will fire to 1270/1280 that are
accessible within a reasonable distance from London. Found 'keupers red'
but need to go a little higher for my glazes and porosity considerations.
thanks

Hi Everyone,
I want to throw a 2 piece bird bath. I have no trouble with the tall
pedestal but the wide low bowl part is giving me a problem. The sides
start to sag when I pull it out so far. There must be a secret trick
to it. If anyone knows how to throw a wide (maybe 15 inches) low
(maybe 3...

Once Glazed, Twice Fired? by
Lindsay MacArthur
Actually I have several somewhat related questions
1. I have some pieces that I used wax resist on for decoration. A
couple of them I'm not pleased with after coming out of the glost
fire. Can I glaze the unglazed parts and refire the pieces?
2. There was a question a week or so ago regarding...

wheel advice by
alistair
hello,
I'm thinking of buying a shimpo RK10 with remote pedal. Can anyone
fill me in with pro's or cons of this machine?
How is it from stationary to very slow speeds?
Does the fact that the pedal is remote, change in any way the
performance?
what is the drive system?
it says in the brochure that...

Boycott Gettysburg by
Tom
Link to Gettysburg photos showing the Gettysburg battlefield before
superintendent John Latschar's ego ran amok and ruined it.

We loved Gettysburg: married there, took dozens of week-long trips, spent
many thousands of dollars there, and even considered moving there....

Looking for a formula by
[email protected]
At one time our ceramics class had a stain called Georgettes. Someone
in the class broke the jar and threw it away not realizing the formula
was on the jar. Does anyone have this formula? I would like to find it
for our class.
Thank you,
Mary
