4 needles in an hour.... by
Johanna Gibson
What am I doing wrong? I've broken 4 needles in the last hour.
These were size 80 Schmetz needles too! I'm sewing a polycotton duvet
cover, with polycotton thread, and the project is eating needles like
there is no tomorrow. I've had enough. Even reading contract law is
better than...

Finishing UFO and/or Choosing Project (LONG) by
Pat in Virginia
In my HD thread, someone (She maybe) asked about how my guild's
UFO challenge works. In the Stuck thread, several posters ask
about how to choose a project and move on. I think a description
of the UFO challenge will answer that issue. Here goes.
The Organizers (L&N) set the 'rules' as follows....

Longest Thread so far in 2006 by
~KK in BC~
Ok, so maybe I have too much time on my hands..?
I went looking into the archives and of course totally forgot what I went
looking for in the first place. I then noticed that there are some very
short threads and some that go on to great lengths!
Of all the ones I looked at from Jan 2006 to now,...

A message from Nurse Nice by
John
I just got back from taking my wife to the dentist where she had some
oral surgery done on both sides of her mouth. My day will consit of
changing out the mouthwash spittoon and feeding her vicodin. The poor
girl is so out of it, she really dosen't know what is going on. The
whole house is torn up...

Strange odor in fun foam by
MB
This has nothing to do with quilting but hopefully someone here
might have an answer to a little problem. Today I went to Joann's
to find something for 2nd grade kiddies for Valentines' Day as dh and I
were invited for a Grandparent's luncheon at school. I found a little
kit to make V. Day...

Pfaff machine by
Sunny[_2_]
Hi, I'm in a quandry and thought maybe one of you would know. I picked
up Mom's Pfaff 2124 and took it to the local Pfaff shop hoping they
would take it on consignment and sell it for me so I wouldn't have to
fly it back home with me. The woman there curtly informed me that it
was the worst machine...

OT ping Kathy Applebaum by
Polly Esther[_5_]
And others. Today is Dr. Seuss's birthday. Be sure to read Green Eggs and
Ham. And the appropriate tune to have buzzing around in your head should,
of course, be that song from How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It goes " nah
tume doh ray, nah tume doh ray. Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss and...

HS Class by
LN \(remove NOSPAM\)
My dd is choosing classes for HS. She enters 9th grade next year (who knows
how THAT happened. She's only 3!). She asked me to help her look at the
different classes with her. They offer quilting as a class!!!!! She wasn't
interested tho. I guess she feels she can get that at home. But they...

OT - The thimble (joke) by
LN \(remove NOSPAM\)
One day, when a seamstress was sewing while sitting close to a river, her
thimble fell into the river. When she cried out, the Lord appeared and
asked, "My dear child, why are you crying?"
The seamstress replied that her thimble had fallen into the water and that
she needed it to help her husband...

It's been a long time by
Kathy Morris
Hello everyone!
Wow, it's been a long time since I've been on RCTQ and it's so nice to see
so many familiar faces. A lot has been going on in my life, but I think
it's finally calmed down enough to begin regularly reading once more. I've
got a lot to catch up on.
I've done a bit of quilting, and...

more ideas than time ;-) by
NDIrishO3
I have been so busy that I haven't been posting at all but I've been reading
faithfully! I am a pool manager in the summers so work has been crazy trying
to get everything ready to open this weekend. And in my spare time I have been
quilting, although I have found that I have way more ideas than...

OT - Help Help Help - Embroidery by
Donna in Idaho
Our guild is making quilt blocks for the outgoing president. She picked -
what I'm sure are embroidery patterns - Sunbonnet Sue pictures to be
appliqued and then done with blanket stitch with black perle cotton. Some
of the pieces are tiny - such as the feet and hands & tiny little leaves on
the...

what to do with fabric that feels like crap by
Medium Gnome
Somehow quilting fabric that feels like crap sneaks its way into our stashes
occasionally and stays for a very long time.
What do you all do with it after you've decided not to use it in a quilt?

The joy of a design board by
Polly Esther
I decided that I just had to have a design board. There was a sheet of used
paneling left over from our remodeling project standing in the garage. We
cleaned it up and brought it in. Didn't know if it would do or not, but I
covered it with some cheap, stretchy baby terry. Had to unearth very...

First, I would like to thank everyone who made suggestions for my fan

Now..... I went to a Sewing Expo in Chantilly, VA this morning and bought a
Curve Master presser foot. What a neat thing! No pinning or cutting the
curves. It took me a...

I normally lurk and read all the wonderful things this group shares. I have
experienced very pleasant fabric swaps, was able to complete my appliqué
chicken thanks to a member, and corresponded with a few of you. I am coming
out of lurkdom for a brief bit of news. I am pleased to announce that...
