Best professional soldering iron?? by [email protected]
Can anyone suggest the BEST soldering iron on the market today? I used to have one that came from France, I believe...and used it with a rheostat. I think that there are professional models available today with a built in temp controller... but how good are they? It also has to be 220/240...

Bevel cluster question by Gail Sperling
I just received a bevel cluster I ordered. Unforunately the pieces don't fit together very well where they fit into the end of a "V". There is a large gap. Would you work with this gap or grind the pieces to fit better? Thanks, Gail

Bevels by Michael[_2_]
Could you suggest an online retail source for a large variety of off- the-shelf bevels? I've got a couple places, Glass Crafters and Cathedral Stained Glass for example, that I've seen them, but I get the feeling that their selection is limited. Thanks, Michael

Bevels...by the inch by Scribble
If any of you stained glass people wouldn't mind sharing, I'm wondering about the going rates for custom bevels. I'm mainly interested in cut-off prices for now. What's a fair price to have the ends of over-the-counter bevels re-beveled after they've been cut to fit a pattern? These are usually...

beware of cabinet company by [email protected]
All, beware of a cabinet company called Gourmet Kitchens Design based out of Sacramento, CA and has an office in Danville, ca. The owner Rick is a crook, who writes bad checks. He is untrustworthy and does not do anything he says he is contracted for. His customer service is the worst and when...

Black and white (grey scale) stained glass panels? by Scott Ecelberger
Hi All, A friend is into B&W photography and we thought a B&W stained glass panel might look pretty cool. Like an Ansel Adams print done in glass - clear, grey scale colors. Has anybody tried this? Know of any links to examples we could check out. Maybe when I get a little better I'll give it a...

black magic patina etc by NoBody
Anybody know if there are any brush-on, rinse-off acid washes for solder/came etc in colors other than black and copper? Golden maybe? Greenish aged type? Where to get? Personal observations of use? TIA, Bob

Blackening Lead Came by Cactus Bob
I have never quite figured out how to get that rich black color on lead came. As the final step I have tried using a bristle brush, car buffing wheel, etc. I never got that jet black look. Maybe I used the wrong kind of brush or wimped out too soon; I don't know. Any suggestions,...

blackening some glass stones by [email protected]
This is a somewhat odd and non-craftsy request, but I have about 160 glass stones, approx 2cm in diameter, 5mm in height, which I'd like to somehow blacken or darken. They are currently clear transparent with speckles. I own a soldering iron, and have absolutely no experience with glasswork or...

Blasting lettering by glassman
I'm biding on a job that needs block letters etched into flashed glass for a memorial window. Any templates or clever shortcuts to do this, short of cutting out all the letters in resist? Maybe a computer driven outfit that does this? Years ago there used to be a company that sold dye cut block...

Blatant Commercial Post, But its such a deal!! by Javahut
This is a blatant commercial advertisement, seriously, I know of a piece of equipment, (Denver IB-30), that would ONLY be of use to a glass person. (as in all of you all), that the current owner(not me!) wants to sell. IF, and you notice those big letters, IF anyone has an interest, please post...

blindly scoring forwards by badcatbailey
Well maby not so blindly, but it feels like it. I am new to stained glass. I have been reading, taking classes, and practicing. I am doing okay with 'cutting' my glass, but when it comes to 'pattern making' there are so many different opinions on the best way to proceed. To some, the best way is...

Blowers in Portland by Kalera Stratton
I realize this NG is not the best way to reach a local community, but I wanted to put feelers out just in case the right person is reading; I'm looking for a glassblower in or near Portland, OR who either knows how to blow glass lampshades or would like to teach themselves how; a friend and I have...
